Coral Reef Park: The Village's Premiere Public Park

Reviewed By 283juanl - Simpsonville, United States

Coral Reef Park is pretty much the center of the 16 year old City of Palmetto Bay. It's a huge park with outdoor facilities for tennis, racquetball, soccer, football, basketball, and jogging. I use the park for the latter; it has enough length of paved path to get a good 45 minutes of walking and running without much retracing. And the park is flat, so the walking is very accessible. The park is notable for its wildlife. Waterfowl swim the park's canals in huge numbers, the most famous being an Egyptian breed of goose. You may also see iguanas walking through the grass, and escaped parrots in the trees.

Antique Mall Y'all is the largest antique dealer in South Miami. They are located in Palmetto Bay and have been in business since 1998. They had a previous location but they moved to this storefront in a strip mall in October of 2016. This store leases space to over a 100 vendors. They also have an estate sale business where they run estate sales in homes that need to be emptied so some items make it here through that. When you walk in you will be required to put your purse in a locker. At first I was kind of put off by this but it is an easy process and honestly it is so easy to knock things over so I didn't have to worry about that and it freed me to move around. If you love vintage and antiques it is well worth your time to come here because there is a lot to look at. There is multiple rooms of furniture, china, glass, coins, books, maps, vintage and new jewelry, vintage and designer clothing & bags, military items, furniture, art, lighting, rugs, pottery, kitchen, dolls, records, sports memorabilia, linens, clothes, and more. If humans have owned it, they have it. Prices range from a few dollars to hundreds. I love vintage Pyrex and I was not disappointed. I found it all over the store including a casserole dish in the highly coveted turquoise Butterprint pattern that came home with me. I asked if prices were firm and the answer is it depends on what it is so if you fall in love with something don't be afraid to see if it can be discounted. My dish was 20 percent off which was exactly what I wanted to pay. I had a great visit and would definitely stop in again if I was in the area.

The Bill Sadowski Park. It was formerly Old Cutler Hammock Park located in Palmetto Bay neighborhood. Its is a small park, within thirty acres; a pineland, tropical hardwood hammock. This time of the year still concentrations of migrating birds, encounters can be possible walking the nature trails in the park. Sing holes and limestone formations are visible along the way.  Encompassed within the park grounds are also a native tree arboretum and a bird watching area. Hard to believe we use to have Florida panther and deers in this place. I’m grateful to be able to enjoy this small wild refuge in the middle of a populated city. It’s a Lovely place to visit. Great for a nature walk, The staff very friendly. They offer several Activities worth to look at it if you in our neighborhood: * Nature trails, bird-watching site and guided tours * Site of geological formations, including ancient sloughs with limestone rock formations, pinnacle arches and solution holes * Fishing canal nearby * Observatory site for the Southern Cross Astronomical Society, which conducts free star-gazing programs with telescopes, lectures, slide shows, and more * Canoe rentals
