I came here last Friday after spending a few days travelling around Tasmania. I was super impressed by the history of this place and all the other buildings in Oatlands. I even met a local saying you are so lucky living here. It was closed by my husband came across it and we had a good walk around. Such beautiful buildings and the plaques on the fence give you an idea about the history of it being built and who built it. It's quite easy to get an idea on what the mill is about. I fell in love with Oatlands and wished I had stayed another night. It's a beautiful little town with gorgeous english looking buildings. Being a history buff I enjoyed walking around. Yes, it was cold but we survived. If you do visit Oatlands make sure you visit the museum and park. I saw some swans and cute ducks. It's really worth just having a look at the historic buildings if the mill is closed.

Podium Art is a purpose built gallery by owner using predominantly recycled materials . I consider it a poor man's gallery, as l didn't have the money to buy 1, so l had to build it myself. Podium Art is 1 man's work. It was built over a 6 year period. I built it to hang controversial art regarding our system. At present l have indigenous art from Arnhemland NT, l consider the indigenous art of Arnhemland some of the best, as they still use bush ochre and most of the art is very basic to understand. Everything else in the gallery is made on site. I mainly make tables and seating all for sale. All the timber used in furniture is recycled from old buildings I've demolished. All pieces are used in the gallery, when a piece is purchased it's cleaned up before delivery. Free delivery anywhere in Tasmania. Podium Art also sells coffee, plus cater for small groups , up to 20 people. Bookings made in advance. At present open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. 9-

This is a little sanctuary with a wide range of beautiful homewares for inside and out. Not obviously signed - it’s down the lane next to the Crepes cafe. Enjoy!
