The beauty of Petit Jean Mountain and the surrounding area led to the formation of a state park system in Arkansas in 1923.
We spent the weekend at Petit Jean State Park and will definitely return! We stayed in a duplex cabin with a full kitchen and fireplace. Wish we’d brought more firewood, however you could purchase a small bundle for $5. Cabin 12 A is located at the back of the property and overlooks a beautiful waterfall. It also has a screened porch, swing and a deck with a grill. We hiked to Cedar Creek falls and got some gorgeous photos. Remember to take water with you. The Mather Lodge restaurant serves good food with friendly service. You can also call ahead to pick up your food. This was a great last minute trip with very friendly service.

It was an easy hike on the boardwalk and had great views. 2 of our pe6were elderly and waited for us to go to the falls to see if there was any water as it was so hot out. There was barely a trickle. But it was a nice hike.

A beautiful trail in the petit jean state park. It will be a five mile hike (4.5 plus a detour to Grotto). I would rate the hike as moderate. Locations to stop: Natural Bridge, turtle rocks, and Grotto. When you reach the natural bridge you will have to climb up from the side and when you reach the top you will see the turtle rocks. It’s not a difficult climb and the view is great at the top. If you are hiking in spring you will have water streams running but it will be quiet and dry in fall. Enjoy the hike and then have lunch at the Mather Lodge.

The museum was clean and well organized. The displays shared what was happening in history the year the car came out, specifics about the car and the original prices. Set in a beautiful location in/near the state park, it was a nice way to spend a could of hours learning more about the automobiles and industry.

Our family is building memories by going on "adventures." My husband, our 15 year-old son, and our adult son and daughter-in-law decided to visit Petit Jean and go on a trail ride. We started with breakfast at Mather Lodge - which was great - then headed to Barnyard Friends. We were given food so we could feed the animals while waiting our turn. They were so funny! The horses were beautiful, as were the fall colors, on our wonderful trail ride through the woods. We all have zero experience with horses and were a little nervous, but for no reason! We had a wonderful time :)

Really incredible short hike through incredible rock formations. The natural beauty is fabulous. This trail has lots of up and down steps so it might be challenging for anyone with mobility issues.
