This boutique winery is set in the historical building that once housed Newton's Jewelry Store ca. 1901. With its lovely curved glass windows, murals, and charming Wine Maker's Loft, the winery delivers a terrific atmosphere for a fun and relaxed family-friendly wine tasting. The winery also features an extensive selection of wine related gift items, home accents, and gourmet foods that pair perfectly with the award-winning "Wines from the Heartland." There is always something exciting happening at Whispering Meadows. Don't miss a chance to experience Whispering Meadows Vineyards & Winery, a true jewel of Southeastern Oklahoma.
Who would have thought McAlester, OK, mostly famous for a prison rodeo, would have a winery this interesting? A flight of wine was $15, which I thought was high until I saw the size of the pour. This is a tasting where you might consider having a designated driver. Along with the wine you get chocolate and crackers to clear your palate. For people who haven't read my wine reviews, I'm not an oenophile by any means. I know what I like and it's normally sweet. I find most expensive, snooty wine tastes like drain cleaner to me. So readers of Wine Connoisseur probably won't like what I like. That being said, I really liked Wild Child. The bottles are not inexpensive, I paid $21 for my bottle. Whether or not you buy a bottle afterwards, the tasting is well worth the money. There is also an extensive store inside the winery where you can get wine–related goods.
