A forty-mile recreational area along the coast of Oregon consisting of thirty lakes, dunes, campgrounds and hiking trails.
We visited two sections during our stay on the Oregon coast. The first stop was the south jetty located minutes from downtown Florence. We enjoyed watching dozens of harbor seals frolicking in the water. We also walked out on the jetty where several people were catching mostly juvenile Dungeness crabs. The other section we visited was an overlook where there were 3 viewing decks that provided us with a quick overview of the massive dunes.

Not all of the Oregon Coast lighthouses are accessible, but this one is. We parked across the road and took about 15 steps to stand beside it (all flat ground.) This is the second lighthouse to occupy the spot, standing 65' tall on an elevation of 165' above the river and shore. It was built in 1894 and is nearly identical to the HECITA Lighthouse; however, this one emits a distinctive red and white flash. It's maintained by the US Coastguard. Pretty views. Free!

Operated by friendly locals who respect the dunes while helping you have a good time. We selected the guided tour, which was more our speed and enabled us to stop and hear descriptions of the dunes, local ecology, and sites. Well worth the time and money. They are disabled-accomodating with a short heads-up. Best time to see dunes is after tourist season; otherwise can be crowded mayhem. Bring a long-sleeve shirt of there's a possibility of clouds, because you're out in the open and it gets cold quickly.

As ATV newbies we weren't really sure, whether we should spend the money for the three of us for this kind of experience. But it was absolutely worth it! Tom was awesome in giving us a perfect introduction, taking all the time needed to make...MoreGlad to hear you a good experience as first timers. We look forward to having you ride with us again!

Stayed in a yurt for two nights in late October, two adults, a toddler and a small dog. The yurt was an adequate size for our group, but wouldn't be big enough for many more, maybe an additional child. The heater kept us cozy during the rainy nights, and there are several electrical outlets for phone chargers, etc. There is also an electrical outlet and a water faucet outside. A fire pit and picnic table are provided outside, there is a bench on the covered porch. A broom and dustpan are provided inside, plus a number of pegs to hang coats on. The futon opens to a double sized bed, the bunk has a double size lower bed and single size upper. There is also a small table and two chairs.
Don't leave food or trash out, the crows tore up our trash during the day, and a bear got into the trash back during the night.
Camp hosts are friendly. There is a nice playground next to the lake. Restrooms are clean and spacious.

On the Oregon Coast in Winchester Bay at Ridin' Dirty ATV Rentals we take our ridin' seriously. We've got the best dunes in the state and we know you'll love them too. Whether it's your first time or you are a seasoned rider, come rent the best ATV's, Side by Side's and Dirt Bikes on the Oregon Coast.
We were driving up the Oregon coastline...we came across absolutely breathtaking sand dunes that went for miles & miles! We found a cute little town to stay nearby and Ridin' Dirty was across the street. Family owned, very friendly and personable. They have pride in their equipment and they're very accommodating! They bring the toys to you right at the staging area which is only 1.7 miles away! Good prices and good sand toys!

My son and I had a great time on the dunes with Steve's ATVs. I appreciate their focus on safety, having riders review the rules thoroughly before riding. They also assure that you can ride before heading out. I would definitely rent here again - the dunes were a lot of fun. But, be careful - if you ride like an idiot, bad things will happen. The only criticism I have is that the deposit ($600) was held on my card for four days.

Stopped here on 08/02. The memorial is located just north of the junction to Horsefall Beach, on the westside of the 101. It is worth your time to stop and observe the tributes in stone. The backdrop is breathtaking, McCullough Bridge and Coos Bay to the south and the dunes to the west and north.
***A CAUTION, HWY 101 IS VERY BUSY SO TAKE CARE ENTERING AND EXITING THE MEMORIAL***

ATV sand Board rentals in North Bend Ore , Dune Buggy Tours on the dunes, new 5 seat RZR to rent or ride. RV park on site along with a gift shop. free parking all paved
We rented three machines for one very experienced driver, one more cautious driver, and one newbie. It was great fun for all of us, even with our varying degrees of abilities. One of the machines broke a belt and it took about an hour to be back up and running again. Dune Bugs did refund us for the delay. Since we had nothing to do for the hour, we watched some young crazy men flying into the air going up and down the dunes. Their grandparents came over and told us the guys had been doing this all their lives and they love to come to the dunes as a family and always have a great time. We are hoping to be able to rent from Dune Bugs again sometime.
