Royal Liverpool Golf Club

Royal Liverpool Golf Club is delighted to welcome visitors to play our challenging, historic links. Please see our online Tee Booking system for details, discounts apply on Mondays.Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake has staged major tournaments throughout its long history including 11 Open Championships. The Open made a successful return to Hoylake in 2006 when Tiger Woods achieved his third victory. The Women's British Open will be played at Hoylake for the first time in 2012, then the Open returns in 2014. The Club was formed in 1869, making it the second oldest links in England. Hoylake has a long and distinguished history of golfing firsts: It was host to the inaugural men’s amateur championship in 1885; the first ever international match between Scotland & England in 1902; the first Home International matches & the first transatlantic contest between GB&I & the USA in 1921, an event which became the Walker Cup the following year. In fact, it is Hoylake's contribution to the amateur game that has set it apart from other clubs. The historic memorabilia in the clubhouse is well reknowned. Golfers are welcome to follow in legends' footsteps to play our links.

Played the links today with 3 pals and personally this was the most enjoyable golf day out for me; anytime, anywhere. The course was in exceptional condition for November and from the moment I arrived I was made to feel most welcome by all members of staff from the Asst Pro to the smiling bar staff and house staff. The weather was unbelievable (sunny with very little wind) which helped us all play better golf; the rough was minimal which also helped!! The clubhouse is splendid, and in my opinion surpasses Royal Birkdale and Royal Lytham - there is so much to see and some of the memorabilia is outstanding. The food was very good and also very reasonably priced. If you love the game of golf take time out to play this wonderful course and walk in the footsteps of legends.

The Black Toad

Reviewed By DaveN62 - Wirral, United Kingdom

...is that since it opened in the middle of 2019, all the other hoylake bars have gone by the wayside. Rob and Michelle are great hosts, the range of 5/6 keg and 3 cask have been fabulous. Predominately local(ish) beers, Neptune, Polly's, Gibberish, Peerless, the other Birkenhead brewery plus a great range of ciders and a fridge full of top beers from all over the country plus the obligatory excellent lager in Budvar, and a space that shouldn't work but does, makes this place easily the best in Hoylake. We were crying out for a craft ale bar in the village, and The Black Toad is probably the best on the Wirral...heartily recommended!
