A scenic river that bisects the city of Fremont and is popular for canoeing and other water sports.
I love fishing the "runs" in Fremont Ohio. I have been fishing there since 1967. Have seen a lot of changes in the river including the installation of the flood wall. Now that the dam has been removed it is a different experience. I look forward to finding out for myself. It has created a lot of new honey holes that never existed before.Hope to get there first when the big ones get there early. I scouted it recently and have always enjoyed the small town hospitality through the locally owned businesses. Want the best it has to offer? Follow the locals. there are several good places to sleep, camp, eat and entertain yourself. Just met the owner of West State Street Grille. Has a place that the locals flock to as well as anglers. The most creative menu and incredible employees. If you can catch him between orders you can expect a quick joke or story about the history of the river and the city. His family was the only place to get a real whole walleye cooked to perfection for generations. You will get the whole Fremont experience there and some killer food...try it. Anglers supply is what Wal-Mart wishes it was. try it. A small locally owned expert source for years. Breakfast at Billys or Whiteys a must. Do Fremont right. Find the locals favorites...

The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums is dedicated to 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes and First Lady Lucy Hayes. The site houses their 25-acre wooded estate, known as Spiegel Grove; their 31-room Victorian mansion; the presidential library; a museum; the tomb; and a mile of paved walking trails. There are fees to tour the museum and the home. Use of the presidential library, which has a massive genealogy and local history collections, is free. The museum was renovated in early 2016 and includes interactive exhibits that tell the story of Rutherford and Lucy, the issues they faced and what they thought about those issues. Sit at a replica of the Resolute Desk - the original was given to President Hayes and still sits in the Oval Office of the White House - try on a Civil War soldier's haversack and more. The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums is America's first presidential library and the forerunner for the federal presidential library system.
This is a must see place, the property is big and a great place to walk around. Lots of sites to see here, including a museum, library, house tour, and you’re able to visit the resting place of the previous US President.

Excellent tour for those who like history, creepy buildings and exploring! Recommend this for older children, could be too scary for younger kids and some of the stories tell about murder and mayhem that landed people in the dungeon or hanged on the gallows. Tours are only available on select dates or by appointment for groups but worth the effort to make it happen.

Located on the Hayes estate, this path has gone from a supply road in 1812 to a jogging path in the summer.
