Took the ferry from Woods Hole to Martha’s Vineyard and back. Simple process- took the shuttle from a Falmouth parking lot on the way out and returned with relatives who took their vehicle to the island and got to experience the efficient de-boarding process in a car. The trip out was rainy so we rode inside and the trip home was very cold and windy but sunny so we spent some inside and some outside. Really smooth ride despite the conditions both days.

As you turn into the road leading to the lighthouse you are struck by the beautiful view of the ocean to your right. The lighthouse is on a hill to the left. The view from the lighthouse is gorgeous and a great place to take pictures.

This aquarium offers visitors the chance to watch the seals being fed.
We were pleased that during our off-season trip to the Cape the Woods Hole aquarium was open. There is only metered street parking. Meters take quarters (25 cents for 15 minutes and I think there was also a credit card option. There are several tanks on the main level and upstairs you can see the tanks from above. There is also a small touch tank. There were no seals in residence while we were there. It took us about an hour to walk thru all the exhibits.

I have spent summers here since 1965 and have always enjoyed the drawbridge. I now live here. In the past, as a pedestrian or bike rider, you could help the bridge tender by opening/closing the gates. That seems to be frowned on more recently; this made up for by the bridge tender's love of dogs. I was here in 2009 when the old bridge was removed and a new one put in. A pedestrian walkway was maintained through the construction. The traffic light at the bridge is the only one in Woods Hole and the bridge opens on the hour and half hour if there are boats wanting to enter or exit Eel Pond.
