This Volunteer Life Brigade maritime museum details the history of the first Volunteer Life Brigade to be formed in the United Kingdom and her colonies on December 5th 1864 after the loss of 32 souls within sight of the shore when the schooner "Friendship" and the steamer "Stanley" came to grief on the Black Midden rocks at the mouth of the river Tyne during a South Easterly gale on the afternoon and early evening of the 24th November 1864. The museum contains many unique artefacts salvaged or donated from vessels wrecked along our shore and historic photographs and paintings showing the role of the brigade since it was formed. The brigade is still fully active providing search and rescue services along the coast from the Tyne to Seaton Sluice and upriver to the Tyne bridges and further if required. The brigade are the eyes and ears for the coastguard and are a declared search and rescue facility to HM Coastguard.
I visited here with my wife and 2 children and despite having last visited around 25 years ago still really enjoyed it. Free entreance with a donations box for a contribution so please remember to bring some cash to support the lifeboat. There's a couple of things for small children (ring the bell, climb the stairs to the watch house) and a lot of interesting artifacts for adults. Probably 30-60mins visit.

This is the most picturesque setting for a market that I have ever known. The covered Metro station at Tynemouth is a gorgeous Victorian station with glass roof, railings and a vast concourse which comes alive with the colourful and diverse market stalls. So many to see and make a purchase from, flowers, knickknacks, cards, jewellery, clothing, drinks and food. All very friendly stall holders and happy to help and recommend other stall holders if wanting something in particular. The old station waiting rooms and ticket hall have been made into bars and retail outlets too, and so well done. Four our legged friends, ???? water bowls places out so they could have a drink whilst we chatted with the locals who gave some top tips on other places to visit in the area, one of those being the lighthouse, which we went into visit the morning after. The market has a great lively atmosphere, a lovely addition to our Tynemouth Music Festival visit, to see the wonderful Jack Savoretti perform at the Priory. We’ll be returning to visit there too hopefully same time next year.

A really nice beach and cove which is great to keep an eye on the kids while they swim in the sea and a real sun trap being a cove . I am so fortunate to live here ..

Just visited the park today with our 2 grandkids 5,7 years old. Car parking nearby only £3.50 for full day. First stop was crazy golf at £5 per person there was 2 , 9hole courses good fun with water squirting on certain holes. Next was fish and chips lovely jubbly 2 fish lots with drinks £15.00 not bad . Kids had great fun on park then we went in the maze at £2 per person was fantastic fun for both kids and adults plus a treasure map which you had to collect stamps on way through maze to get the treasure at the end chocolate coins. Great day out see you soon .

Situated on the award winning Longsands beach Tynemouth Aquarium is home to some amazing animals. See sharks, seals and some amazing fish as well as monkeys and reptiles! The new exhibit; River Giants takes you away to a tropical rainforest and brings you up close to some huge fish! Make sure you check out some of the interactive talks and feeds throughout your visit.
For a relatively small space, there really is plenty to see. I was pleasantly surprised to even see some cute Tamerin monkeys too! You can get up close and personal with plenty different species of marine life, which was great. We also enjoyed the seal show. The place was clean and the staff very friendly, so I cannot fault it.
