Enjoy a great and unusual moment in a strange universe of water and stone. After a stroll in the underground, the hot springs will guide you to the atelier where the secrets of a unique handicraft have been preserved for 2 centuries. The 14-meter-hight petrifying ladder will show you man's cleverness in the artistic use of calcium. At the end of the visit you will discover, in the showroom, our creations fine results of the combination between nature's plenty and the craftsmen's know-how.
This place is for people who really appreciate and want to learn more about the ancient art. The owner has done a fantastic job preserving the history of this type of art. The process of petrification is a type of focalization, so if you are into geology you must visit this site. We accidentally found the place and since our return to Canada, this place has been the topic of our conversations. I think it takes certain people to appreciate what they do at this site. Although my 8 years old daughter had a fantastic time here as well. Because it was short we didn't get too tired and we learned so much about the geological aspect of the area in 20 minutes. We came back with 4 pieces of their artwork. If I am in the area I will definitely go back.

20 years ago, Alphonse Bellonte discovered the mysteries of four caves… They were dug in medieval times and were old troglodyte dwellings. The caves are now a modern museum “the Mystères de Farges” is a one hour tour which makes you travel back through centuries. In our 4 caves you will experience the history of these medieval troglodyte dwellings thanks to an unforgettable “son et lumière show”. Then, you’ll see the Viginet’s treasure.
