There is no separate attraction for tourists to visit he Bailey Yard. You view the Bailey Yard from the Golden Spike Tower. From the Golden Spike Tower the 7th-floor open-air observation deck offered great views the of Union Pacific Railroad Bailey Yard and surrounding area. We enjoyed the 7th-floor open-air observation deck but the fully enclosed 8th floor of the Golden Spike Tower offers some additional information and exhibits.

Cody Park is a very nice large recreational area with outdoor activities that includes a big fenced in zoo area and a historic carousel. The Cody Park Railroad Museum is one section of the larger park area. FYI I submitted a correction, don't use the address listed on trip advisor for Cody Park in your GPS, The current Tripadvisor address of North Hwy 83, North Platte, NE you won't get there. The correct address is the one listed for Cody Park Railroad Museum, 1402 N Jeffers St, North Platte, NE.

America's 20th Century Veterans' Memorial

Reviewed By Bee80204 - Denver, United States

We’ve seen this place countless times on our drive to Iowa but he never wanted to stop. This time I was lucky and he stopped so I could wander around. The sculptures are lifelike and well carved. And even better, a likeness and snippet is provided of the sculptors at the base of the statues. I liked being able to read about both the subject and the person who made the sculptures. It was sad to run my fingers over the names printed on the bricks in the memorial. You can get a brick printed with a veteran’s name but I didn’t have time to investigate further as we were short on time. But I’m glad we stopped. It’s definitely a good stop to remember the cost of war and appreciate the many sacrifices made by our veterans.

Lincoln County Historical Museum

Reviewed By GeekHistory - Dover, United States

Sometimes when you least expect it you run across an excellent small town museum such as this one. While the museum is there to tell the history of Lincoln County Nebraska, it tells an overall great story of history. As a geek I really enjoyed the extensive display of early telephone equipment. The area telling the story of the WWII canteen located in North Platte was interesting as well. Besides the museum there are several outdoor buildings restored to their vintage look in a small village setting. Nearby to the Buffalo Bill Ranch and a highly recommended stop if you are in the area.

Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park

Reviewed By GeekHistory - Dover, United States

Walking through the mansion of William “Buffalo Bill” Cody is a great piece of American wild west history. The mansion itself is decorated with many items from the life and times of Buffalo Bill Cody. The barn includes many nice coaches and carriages as well. Just to clarify some of the issues mentioned in other reviews, the Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park is part of the state park system, the $8 charge is the price of a State Park Permit for all day access to the entire Buffalo Bill Ranch State Recreation Area which offers camping and hiking. The $2 per person entry fee is for touring the Buffalo Bill mansion. Some people mentioned the Buffalo Bill mansion was not open when they stopped. In the world of the Covid pandemic many places keep modifying and adjusting their hours of operation, you need to call ahead. I called and made sure I knew exactly when the home was open for tours so we could plan accordingly. I loved the place. The negatives in some of the reviews just make me shake my head.
