I love it here, I’d much rather go to the palace than drive to York for the big chain cinemas. Plenty of legroom and reasonably priced snacks and drinks.

Thrussendale Farm is a destination. Set amidst some of the most outstandingly beautiful scenery on the edge of the Wolds in North Yorkshire. It's a pedigree Aberdeen Angus bull breeding farm, somewhere for Corporate business to escape to for Executive and Senior Management Meetings, somewhere different. Somewhere with 'Wow' factor, a place to turn ideas into reality, to motivate and energise your teams and somewhere to relax and have fun afterwards. It's a magical destination that never fails to capture the heart and fill the senses with inspiration. The farm also hosts exclusive wild camping and motorhome pitches which are totally at one with nature. No ordinary place to pitch your tent or park your home on wheels - but somewhere to stay inside nature and to be totally surrounded by it. You might not even see another visitor throughout your stay. Our one aim, apart from breeding high health / welfare Aberdeen Angus cattle, is that your stay will encourage you to want to return.

Housed within the buildings and grounds of a former Prisoner of War camp, a visit to this unique museum will take you back to wartime Britain. Experience the sights, sounds and even smells of life on both the Home Front and the Front Line.
On holiday with Gibbons coach holidays on our Yorkshire Explorer holiday we visited Eden Camp situated just outside Malton, North Yorkshire. Eden Camp is a historical history museum taking you back in time to experience what it was like in war time, each hut tells a story it's an amazing place to visit see all the military vehicles, air raid shelters, experience the smells, sounds of wartime. We enjoyed lunch in Winstans Bunker Cafe, seeing the staff dressed in wartime clothing. You have toilets and gift shop on site and the museum is all on the flat so easy walking you need at least three hours if not more to get around everything, plenty of parking on site and open seven days a week, don't miss the Prefab Bungalow you can look all around and through the windows see how they lived in the 1940's, something for everyone at Eden Camp had a fabulous visit. Had a photo taken in the sentry box with hard hat and gun lovely souvenir, a place every one should visit, every one works so hard keeping everything authentic.

For us the "Walled Garden" was a sensational piece of modern design created by leading Dutch garden designer Piet Oudolf in 1999 and is now beautifully mature. The walled garden is divided into twelve areas each with a different theme. All an inspiration for any gardener. A big plus is a nursery where you can purchase many of the same plants that are growing in the gardens, and receive expert advice. Cafe was good too with excellent cakes, loved the Bakewell tart due to Covid-19 there is only outside seating In addition there is the Parkland laid out by by "Capability" Brown in 1771. We walked around the guided trail through the parkland and enjoyed the stunning views. There is also Scampston Hall to visit but it was not open the day we visited due to Covid-19. To do everything you would need a whole day but our purpose was the gardens.

Our unique Attraction is on the edge of the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds. A wonderful and relaxing place to visit! A 12 acre site with Lavender Fields, Displays, Nature Walks, Giant Games Maze and Narrow Gauge Railway! New for 2018; The Timber Trail play area! We have the only Wood Fired Lavender Distillery in the country, in summer we extract the 100% Pure Lavender Essential Oil. Our “Wolds Way” range of products can be found within our Shop. Our Tea-room serves our speciality Lavender Scones, we also have a Plant-sales area. See website for opening & admission details.
What a lovely, thoughtfully put together place! We visited Wolds Way with our 17 month old toddler, and she loved it! Lots of space to run around and plenty to look at, and the miniature train ride was great. I think this would be good for much older kids too, it’s well organised with lots of interesting areas such as the nature maze with outdoor games and orienteering, bug hotels, bird hide, playground and the mud and sand kitchen. It’s a relaxing place to wander through the wild flower meadows and lavender rows. Staff were lovely and it felt safe and clean in the current pandemic. Large picnic area too - recommend you bring one at the moment as I think the current food offerings are limited.

What a great earlier write up from QueenCalvert. I thoroughly enjoyed the walk to Wharram Percy and I do agree that more could be done with this site without destroying the isolated beauty of the area. Was fascinated with the boards but after 40 years of excavations over the village I am sure there must be more still that we could be told. That said, a lovely walk and we just beat the rains! Have no trouble recommending and for me it was still 5 stars.

The Great Ryedale Maze returns! An attraction for all the family, nestled in beautiful countryside at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds! We have a field full of fun with nine acres of maize plants and for younger adventurers there’s the two-acre Scarecrow Mini-Maze. With a Vintage Funfair, Game Stalls, Football Darts, and then watch some live entertainment in our Big Top.
We visited a couple of days before the maze closed in September during our Staycation (thanks covid!) and ended up having such a fun afternoon! 2 adults, without kids, we weren't sure it would be for us... But I am so glad we gave it a try! The maize maze was a really good height, nearly as tall as me in many places (5foot,5), so even my over 6 foot husband couldn't see over the top to cheat! We lucked out on our mid-week visit and for the most part it was if we had the maze to ourselves! We ran around in the sunshine for around 90 minutes - and we still didn't find all of the clues! It was such a fun afternoon, walking in the sunshine through the corn with the wind rustling through and just the faint sound of fairground music... Weirdly very peaceful! The food looked overpriced, but we had brought our own snacks so no need to join the long queue. Entry includes 2 rides on the fairground. There wasn't much choice, so we went on the carousel and the dodgems and had a giggle! There were many portaloos to use, hand sanitizer was freely available before/after going on all of the rides and social distancing was mostly always observed. We paid around £24 for 2 adults, buying our tickets in advance online as we weren't sure if they could be purchased on arrival. Whilst this is expensive, we ended up really enjoying ourselves and for something fun and different to do we would recommend.
