This gallery is a delight. Full of lovely things including art work, pottery and books. It was an unexpected find and a source of joy. The owner (?) is a kind and informative man. I wish I had had more time to peruse everything and then have coffee and cake.

They were so friendly and helpful, made us feel very welcome to the town and region. We met the Major who allowed us a peep at the 11th Century Moot Hall - fans of Harry Potter will spot the reference. Worth a stay

Easy to find, half way up the road towards the castle & plenty of free parking nearby. Several little houses set off a cobbled courtyard with a lovely fountain in the centre and a little chapel in the left corner, if you go out the gate behind the fountain there is a stunning little garden, what a lovely place, appears to still house local residents.

Lovely old church, steeped in history. I popped in twice and noticed so many more things on the second visit.

The Hare and Hounds, what we call a "proper" pub. We have a real log fire. Great real ales. Friendly staff and locals. Dog friendly. We don't do food but we do a great pint. Premium spirits, cocktails and a gin menu all available. Come and give us a try!! We look forward to seeing you!
Good English bar, very clean, following covid-19 advice, bar staff friendly, locals gave us a laugh, would recommend

This hotel is situated in a very small village in Sanford near Appleby. The hotel is not very big but quaint, the room we stayed in was quiet large as it had a child's bed in as well as a king sized bed. It was clean as was the bathroom with lots of hot water. There is a bar and a small restaurant, we stayed two days and ate there both evenings. The food was very good and plenty of it. For breakfast you have a very good choice and my husband had the Cumbrian breakfast both mornings which was huge. There is some really pretty villages to visit and some good walking near by. This is a great place stay for a few days if you like being away from it all.

Myself and my boyfriend came to Appleby manor after receiving a gift voucher for a spa day for Christmas! All the staff were so helpful and the spa facilities were beautiful, absolutely love the heated pool! Such a relaxing environment we were completely chilled out even had a glass of prosecco in the hot tube!. As part of our spa experience we had a two course meal, hats off to the chef the food was gorgeous! We also had treatments at the spa, all the girls were so professional and very welcoming and friendly! My facial was pure bliss and everything I could of asked for! My boyfriend was equally impressed with his massage. We left Appleby manor, reguvenated and extremely relaxed thank you for a lovely experience we will be back!

All towns should have a pub like this. The beer quality is key here. Yes, the pub is tatty and run-down, in need of decoration etc. But the beer quality is 100%. Landlord drinks real ale himself, washes his dispense lines out regularly and looks after the ale properly. All evidenced by the clean glass it is drunk from. Take no notice of his mood-swings, he has a friendly lurcher dog. It's a pub to drink, read or chat in. No frills, no food, a proper back street pub and step back in time to the 1960's. You visit this pub for the ale quality, nothing else. There are 4 hand-pumps, mainly from the Jennings, Ringwood range, but guest beers are often from Cross Bay, Morecambe, Lancs, a distinct hoppy range that are popular in Cumbria.
