Nevada's "other" gambling and resort town, Reno is located in the western part of the state near the California border. What the city lacks in glitz or reputation it more than makes up for in attractions and amenities. There are first-rate hotels, golf courses and casinos to rival its southern counterpart and, also like Las Vegas, Reno has become a popular destination for families. Galena Creek Park offers nature trails that even young children can navigate, plus organized educational events for families.

River walkway that affords views of the river and Reno.
The riverwalk runs along the north side of the river with some meandering where foot and mixed bridges cross to the island home of Wingfield Park. It is especially attractive in autumn late in the afternoon when the fall foliage and sunsets flame the glassy stretches of the river. Brief plaques provide fun historical context. Some of the Riverwalk is simply a broad sidewalk bordered by the river on one side and restaurants and shops on the other, but other segments run through parks and, indeed one end is at Idlewild Park, where those enchanted by their ramble can continue near the river. It is a remarkable blend of urban amenities (shops & restaurants) and a wild-land feel with waterfowl and human frolicking in the water in the summer. . In how many urban rivers can you watch folks trout fishing for their breakfast? Parking is available nearby. Homeless people do hang out and sleep rough in some places here, but the context is peaceful and tolerant, with "Reno Ambassadors" being a positive calming and inclusive presence.

Upon entering the spa lobby I was greeted warmly, I was checked in and offered a tour of the 3 floor facility. They provided complimentary comfy robes and sandals and let me know I was welcome to use the facilities all day. I loved the locker room area with hot tub, sauna and steam room. I received a massage from Emma and she was outstanding! She greeted me promptly at my appointment time and made me feel welcome right away. She asked a few questions about my medical history and preferences during a massage, which made me feel like she cared. I have never been more relaxed after a massage!!! Will be back to this spa soon for sure.

My friend and I love Angela at the Spa Atlantis and find every opportunity to sneak in a massage with her and a day at the spa. The facilities are fabulous, but you can't beat Angela for a massage. She is a master at the Swedish massage, perfect in every way. We've gone to other people, but none are as good as Angela. Visit the Spa Atlantic for the amenities, but book with Angela. She's worth waiting for.

If you like luxury rooms, a great casino, large mega screens on every wall in the casino with streaming views from around the world, you will be impressed. We recommend asking for a room in the Tuscany Tower. Beautiful red marble floors with an old Mediterranean/Italian style decor. Rooms have a small refrigerator with a tv that gets the same streaming views shown in the casino (video channels start on 65). Cafe Milano is our favorite - it is smoke free environment and has good sized portions of food too.

Located in the downtown area and conveniently connected to the Silver Legacy and Circus Circus. Nice room with a king bed and had a view of the pool area. Only complaint was the bathroom door the kinda girl in the way of the toilet and the shower head was pretty low which was great for me being 5'0", and ok for my husband that was 5'10" but may be a little annoying for a taller person. They have people monitoring the elevators and checking room keys which was nice. Good sized casino and lots of slots and tables. No spa, but full access to the Spa at the Silver Legacy. Spa very large and nice, and the hobby and I got great pedicures. It was nice to have full access to the spa until they closed. The buffet was great and lots of other food choices between the 3 hotels...we did find that many closed early or were not open on the days we were there. The pool area was nice and the hot tub worked and was comfortable...but closes early...it think 8pm, Probably because it is surrounded but rooms.

There is non-stop excitement at this casino that features well-known games including slots, keno, table games and video poker.
We had a wonderful three day week-end at the Atlantis in Reno This is the first time we visited since covid. They do temperature checks at the door. They do have social distancing, hand sanitizers in place. Overall they try hard. I wish they did sanitize the slot machines a bit more between players, Overall, we had a wonderful time. Our room was delightful. We had dinner at Napa Bistro, the Steakhouse - which were both superb, and Sunday lunch at Purple Parrot. Service was good. We enjoyed playing the slots.

After a miserable time in Las Vegas we stopped in Reno (first time) at the Grand Sierra and had the most wonderful time because of slot attendant Kiu. She was most gracious and a outstanding customer service representative of the casino. Ms Kiu turned a terrible trip into one of memory. We'll definitely be back because of her.
