The Museum exhibits hundreds of one-of-a-kind artifacts and an unrivaled collection of vintage photos, which tells the story from the time of the first Indian settlement through generations of immigrants whose journey contributed to the melting-pot culture of the Gulf Coast. The Grand Hall features the "Nydia" a 30' gaff rigged cabin sloop built in Biloxi in 1898 at the Johnson Shipyard. Featured exhibits include shrimping, oystering, recreational fishing, wetlands, marine blacksmithing, net-making, boat building, hurricanes, featuring Camille and Katrina, all the while telling the tale of over 300 years of history, culture and heritage. The Museum is available for special events, meetings, weddings, etc.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this impressive museum! The Hurricane Katrina exhibit and video were riveting! There are interesting displays of the seafood industry, boat building, hurricane history and the impact on the area, and exhibits on the delicate balance of ecosystems (bayou, marshes, and estuaries). We spent 2½ hours exploring this fascinating museum. I would highly recommend it!

The beautiful Bay St. Louis train depot, built in 1928, houses the visitors center, where visitors can get information about businesses and attractions in the Bay St. Louis area, the Mardi Gras Museum, featuring beautiful Mardi Gras costumes and the Alice Moseley Folk Art and Antique Museum. The depot itself is set in a park like setting featuring many Live Oak trees, picnic tables, benches, and a walking path. Duck food can be purchased in the visitor center and many ducks and geese are waiting to be fed at the duck pond on the depot grounds. There is a lot to do and enjoy at the depot and to learn the history of this building and of the difficulties experienced in earlier times maintaining a railroad across the nearby Honey Island Swamp. The Alice Moseley Museum is an entertainment venue as much as it is a Museum and visitors to see Miss Alice usually leave the Museum with a smile on their face and a love of Alice Moseley in their hearts.
The festival has moved back to the church grounds this year!!! Will miss them at this venue! However the visit inside had alot of history and information! A must visit!!!

This was our second visit to the area and we are glad we came back to see the museum again. To say its a powerful exhibit would be an understatement. It’s free to visit (though donations are always welcome) and the volunteers are very helpful. Pam gave us a short tour of the museum and then let us explore at our leisure. They are adding new exhibits as time and funding allow. The latest addition is an oral history video using cell phone photos/videos and interviews with locals who were in the area for Katrina’s impact. I wouldn’t say this would be an ideal place to bring little kids but there is a park that shares the same parking lot so it could be a win win for families traveling with little ones.

The Museum is the home of the largest LEGO(R) railroad display in Mississippi with over 2 million pieces, multiple scale model train layouts, elevated and ground level G scale trains, interactive layouts for kids to operate and enjoy, outdoor garden displays, and multiple riding trains! There are also many fun, themed outdoor railroad displays to enjoy like Jurassic Park and Futurama! Follow us on Facebook and come visit us soon. We also do group & bus tours.
For a free attraction staffed by volunteers, this place is amazing. Various elaborate train displays ranging from HO to ride-on trains. Our grandchildren and their friends loved the whole museum, especially the self-propelled cars. Plenty for youngsters to see and do. A great place for a birthday party.

We were greeted as we entered the museum and were welcomed to tour the place on our own. I found the history and artifacts quite interesting including a piece pipe that was over 300 years old. It also showed the different Ishee homes built in the area. They all relish fitting into nature so it’s almost like living outside... very cool houses! Several local artists had items on display from pottery to paintings and collections. Also, there is a theater which is used frequently for productions which is delightfully “old school.”

The history of Mardi Gras along the Coast will come alive this summer when the Coastal Mississippi Mardi Gras Museum reopens in its new home at 792 Howard Avenue in Biloxi.
It's a small place, but they've used it all to explain Mardi Gras, which was super helpful for me, a midwesterner. They explained the history in general, where it came from, how it works, and have tons of costumes on display as well as a video talking more about the coastal aspects. The two women working were super friendly and informative. Emma, who told me it was her third day, was super sweet and knew a TON about Mardi Gras. It's great if you're someone new to the south or Mardi Gras (so basically anyone not from this area).
