Sushi Autunno is japan restaurant in Taranto with "All you can eat" formula.
We wanted to try something "ethnic" and I saw their site for "Japanese" food. I believe the operators are Chinese trying to pass themselves off as Japanese. We asked the waitress if they had "gyoza" and she didn't know what they were. That should have been our first sign to leave. We ordered from the "All you can eat" menu and had plenty of food. With water and the coperto it was 33.30 euro for 2 people. The sushi was nothing remarkable and most of the flavors were mild. The menu is clear, if you order more than you eat they will charge you extra for wasting food. You can also order from a menu at a price per entree. We had more problems later that night and the following day when our stomachs seemed to be having digestion issues. Not a location we would frequent again.

A very nice place to have dinner in the evening, as you overlook the Bay in Taranto, located around the industrial region of Taranto (you don't see any of the industrial buildings once you are on the terrace!).Classic Italian/Puglian kitchen, service starts late so don't make your reservation too early. The restaurant lends it location more to business dinners than to romantic dinners but the view is really nice and it's nice to sit between locals when dining, there ar not many tourists in this region of Puglia. The food was good, the wine list was good, a bit on the pricy side if you compare to some other restaurants in the Puglia region.

We ate there two nights. We asked for and got two things not on the menu, that our hotel person advised us to ask for. The first was a plate of mussels, cooked in a tasty broth with nice toasted bread to sop it up. We asked for the fruit of the mare spaghetti. All kinds of fish, all good. Two glasses of wine, and a 40 euro price. We waddled back to the hotel.

Trattoria located in Taranto's old city. They serve fresh food cooked like your mom or grandmom would. The mix starter is already filling, usually it's made of 6-7 different types (muscles, octopus, etc). We then had a great risotto with mix seafood and an oven-baked snapper with cherry tomatos and olives. The service can be a bit chaotic sometimes, but the whole staff is friendly and the managers always help out the team. Also next door they have the fish shop and you can choose what you want for your fried dish.I definitely recommend it.

Trattoria L'Orologio.Ex trattoria da Ugo quella sotto la torre dell'orologio in piazza Fontana nella citta vecchia di Taranto. Dal 1938 sempre in mano alla stessa famiglia senza mai cambiare gestione.
Taranto is reputedly home to the best mussels in the world and this place specializes in all dishes mussels as well as other various mollusks and sea creatures. I had reviewed Ugos prior to this reincarnation on the other side of the bridge and besides the shiny new Ugolike space...it is still the same brisk service and excellent cheap food. It does help if you speak italian but you will get by and the waiters will slow down to guide you through the menu..Their soups are excellent and all pastas with the seafood..just everything.

Although the old town of Taranto looks really poorly we at least had a really tasty meal at the restaurant. One problem for all foreigners is that the staff speak poor English and German also quite poorly. However, staff is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food is perfect! We loved burned wheat pasta with mussels, never have we tastes such a tasty pasta with mussels. The tuna steak was also really well made and tasty . All in all, the one problem is the language, unfortunately in the south of Italy foreign languages are not used.

May 23Our local guide Frederika has a resemblance to Sandra Bullock. She knows Taranto, even high officials in the Mayor's office. We had a photo op with one of them who welcomed us to the glorious city, which has an abundance of seafood. In front of the mussel farms, this resto was chosen by Frederika as one of the best. Of course she knows the owner -- most of the customers know him on a first name basis. He does everything -- greets, takes orders, cashiers -- and is darting around several dining rooms. We are in a narrow room between the kitchen area and a larger dining room. As far as I could tell, there are no tourists, only serious seafood lovers. We ordered the seafood salad, a main of octopus in cream sauce. My wife ordered the risotto fruitti di mare. With coffee it was a bargain for 36E for the both of us.If I return to Taranto, I would definitely try more of their delicious dishes. Maybe the owner will recognize me.

A very nice restaurant with great service and delicious food at reasonable prices. I was fortunate enough to be referred here since I was in search of lasagna. It was delicious, as was the mixed salad, red wine, and dolce dela casa. I am happy to recommend this eatery to others. The staff spoke a little English and were very friendly and helpful.

In august my wife and I have visited the restaurant 4 times. Excellent food, good wine and (italian) beer. The waiters are very good. Next year when we are in Italy we will return.
