Wandering through the lane ways between Torre dell'Olio and Corso Garibaldi, we came across this ristorante and thought it could be a good choice for a light Christmas Eve lunch before the big one with family on Christmas Day. It was cold outside and we were happy to be seated next to the fireplace. We opted for the degustation menu of cured meats, crostini and soups. All the dishes served were returned empty! We especially liked the chickpea velvet soup. We did not have any alcohol on this occasion. The service was friendly and professional; the decor includes Due Mondi festival framed posters and pictures making this one of the historic eateries of the town.

We ate here the evening we arrived in Spoleto after a tiring day. Wanted some comfort food and we ordered pizza and salad. Really good quality and GF for my partner. Really good pizza base and well presented. They also do all the regional dishes and if the pizza was anything to go by.....

After reading the reviews I was very excited to try this place. Walking into the empty restaurant (8 pm was early for dinner) I was extremely impressed by the creative folding of the napkins! People, shirts, roses --- fun stuff with clever folds. After being seated, my positive impressions changed. Food was ok, service was poor. Hopefully our experience was unusual ... but still made for an uncomfortable evening

After 2 months in Italy we had the best meal on our travels at this restaurant. Not your typical pizza/pasta restaurant but a truly seasonal menu (the menu here only changed 10 days ago). We had the local pasta (strangozzi) with Sanguinoso (bloody) mushrooms which are red inside when you cut them. We also shared the same pasta with local truffles. Combine that with a brilliant (big) local red wine recommended by the restaurant, Sangrantino and we ended up with a stunning meal. The Sanguinoso mushrooms are only available fresh in October and November.

Il Pentagramma is located just off Piazza Della Liberta very close to the information centre. The restaurant plays very atmospheric, soft music, is tastefully decorated and has a lot of charm. The food was amazing, the Steak with Tree Salts was cooked perfectly as was the Cod fish. Dessert too was very good. Fredrico, the waiter, was extremely friendly and helpful. A little more expensive than most restaurants inn Spoleto, but well worth it.

A friendly and informative host presides over this attractive outdoor garden setting in the heart of Spoleto. The host opened a bottle of the outstanding Sagrantino di Montefalco 2007 from Pozzo del Curato to serve us two glasses of it. We had two somewhat unusual first courses, a soup of Umbrian legumes with guanciale and peperoncino, and scrambled eggs with truffles. The soup was incredibly rich, with several different kinds of beans and lentils. The eggs were a new experience for us, with the finely minced truffles fully integrated in the flavor--a real winner. The pleasant surprises continued with the main courses. Sausage with smoked mozzarella (scamorza) melted on top? I didnât know what to expect, but this was great, accompanied by a plain green salad. My partner had the lamb sous vide al tartufo. Once again, we didnât know quite what to expect from lamb sous vide, being prejudiced in favor of grilling (we like the flavor of the fat on grilled lamb), but this tender cut of lamb was full of flavor yet allowed the truffle to have its say too--and the fat tasted good.We ended the meal with yet another surprise, an excellent Umbrian amaro recommended by the host: Vallenera. We recommend this restaurant highly for quality, service, and its promotion of local products.

Get there early if they do not have the whole formal restaurant open. This place gets crowded fast. Our whole dinner, with wine, was 65 e for 2 and well worth it.

We made a reservation for this restaurant a couple of weeks in advance because we had theatre during the Spoleto festival and wanted to have dinner before it. Naturally, we took the earliest time. When we arrived it was completely empty, but for some reason the woman who greeted us did not allow us to sit at the table we wanted. There was no reservation sign on it and she didnât give us any explanation. She pointed to three tables next to it and said we can sit at one of those just because we are first. The setting outside was really lovely. The weather was hot, but it got nicer in the evening and the street in which the restaurant is located was cute. We placed our order and saw people arriving one table after another. Quite fast it got busy. The duo that required about a table earlier, passing by, came back with another person and got the table that I wanted. That was weird and unpleasant. I liked where we were sitting but I didnât understand what was this whole big deal about it and it made me feel uneasy. I started the meal with a glass of white wine to pair it with my sformatino (rice with cream and truffle). After this I ordered a small carafe of red wine to go with my steak, but the woman didnât bring a new wine glass. My husband asked it for me. Beef filet was ordered medium-rare and even though there is no such concept in Italy (they donât have medium-rare or medium-well options), I expected it either rare or medium but not cooked through. You can see it on my photos. The cut is medium-well to well done. Meat was fresh and juicy though. I liked the taste of it. Obviously, because of the theatre, I didnât point it out or asked to replace it. We had the dessert and paid our bill. After all, an ok experience. If you are dining here, I suggest to order meat rare if you like it medium-rare. Inside rooms are very pretty too, so even if you are not dining outside, itâs still very nice.

First off, Scheggino is charming. There are several promising looking restaurants in a well kept village with a nice piazza, a truffle museum, and the fast flowing river that runs through, offering a white water rafting experience for those so minded. I'm more minded towards food & drink personally, so, on the basis of the glowing TA reviews, it was off to Baciafemmine for an off-season Monday lunch. The approach to the restaurant is lovely - climbing up from the river, via several twisty turny flights of stairs, each with a small sign cajoling you on towards your destination. The restaurant is nicely done, two dining areas, the main one having a large open fireplace - not, unfortunately, lit for our visit ... I guess we were just too early in the year for that to be felt necessary on a Monday lunchtime. Shame, as I love a good fire, and the room was decidedly cool for those of us silly enough to have come in a teeshirt (it was 18° and sunny outside!). When we arrived, there was one other table, a group of 5 business colleagues, I think, who gave the place a nice convivial buzz, and another table of 3 arrived soon after us. Not busy, but a pleasant atmosphere and busier than I'd expected in such a rural location for a Monday lunch in mid-October.We had a chat with the gent doing front of house. He knew his stuff, and was relaxed and pleasant. We ordered from the very extensive range of good quality Umbrian red wines (ranging from 15⬠upwards, and focused mainly on Montefalco, with the welcome presence of ciegliolo di Narni, one of my faves). The menu is fairly traditional, no fancy nouvelle touches here, just a focus on good, homemade produce. Lots of truffle, plenty of boar, and a good dose of the abundant local river trout (there is a 'siding' from the fast flowing river, which runs parallel through the village, and in which you can observe the trout as they pluck flies from the surface through the crystal clear water. Lovely). We chose the most expensive antipasti, based on the many reviews on TA, ordering one 14.5⬠antipasto to share between the two of us. This was the star of the show. Calling it an antipasto doesn't really do it justice - frankly, I have had Michelin starred tasting menus which have delighted me (and filled me up!) less. It is presented as a series of separate plates, clearly made to order, carefully presented, and brought to the table individually. I think there were seven 'courses' in all, starting with fish, shellfish, then moving on to cheese (hot and cold), ragu on polenta, truffle, crostini, savoury pastry, and finishing up with a traditional salumi & formaggio plate. Quite stunning, and astonishing value for the quality/quantity. Seriously, I would have paid the 14.5⬠just for the gamberoni wrapped in prosciutto de cinta alone, had there been three of them, rather than 'just' the two enormous specimens included. At the end of this feast, we were both at a point where we could just about have stopped eating - not quite full, but it was really substantial stuff. We'd ordered a primo each, with baked trout to share as a secondo. I had the home made fresh pasta with truffle (delicious, and a generous dose of the black truffle), my wife had made the mistake of ordering the wild boar ragu on polenta. I say mistake because it was (a) delicious and (b) enormous. Too moreish to leave, the two of us devoured it, despite ever-increasing protests from our bellies. A bottle of grechetto was ordered in order to aid us in eating the trout, and it came well chilled and with an ice pack wrapped around to keep it so as we ate. Top marks, and very well priced at 12â¬. The trout itself was served deboned, but otherwise still intact, and with a breadcrumb, herb and tomato stuffing/gratin. It was very nice, delicate flesh not overpowered by the crumb coating. We had ordered a mixed salad and cheese/anchovy oven baked potatoes as contorni. We devoured the lovely fresh salad, however the - very tasty - potatoes were a step too far, and we admitted defeat. This was really well executed food, prepared and presented by people who clearly care about what they offer, how they offer it, and how it tastes. The only things I would change about our meal would be having the fire lit (which I think they only do in the evenings?) and, with the benefit of hindsight, ordering only one primo to share next time, and ditching the potatoes.I will certainly return, and who knows, I may even get as far as dolce next time if I order a bit more judiciously! Our bill came to about 84⬠in total, which they rounded down to 80â¬. This is an expensive lunch, but considering the two bottles of wine, and the fact that we were still full 24 hours later, it is one that I was happy to pay for.
