Conquering New York in one visit is impossible. Instead, hit the must-sees – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s libraries. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer.

This cathedral, the world's largest, is entirely hand-crafted.
We fortunately decided to pop into this stunning, beautiful and grand Cathedral when walking past it We was absolutely surprised by the Scale, Grandour and Architecture. The 125 year old Cathedral is a MUST to visit being The Largest Cathedral in the World: of over 2.3 football pitches in length There is so much to see and take in. The main Cathedral has supporting gothic beautiful smaller chambers. The Artwork & displays are stunning This ended up being amongst the highlights of our New York visit Definitely a MUST and highly recommended Anne & Stephen Sheppard

Find this Ivy League university on the Upper West Side.
My visit to Columbia University as a part of the Indian Delegation to GSAPP was the high point. The walk from 46th Street 9th Avenue to Columbia University juxtaposed by Central Park to my right and New York to my left was an urban galore

This church has a bell tower with an observation deck offering terrific views.
Riverside Church is a magnificent structure and an inspiring house of worship, especially when they have the handbell and choir concerts. The Church is situated adjacent to a park along the Hudson River offering a wonderful sunny day outside venue.

COVID-19 Response UPDATE: Beginning August 26, 2020, General Grant NM reopened access to: General Grant NM Main Plaza General Grant NM Overlook Pavilion With public health in mind, the following facilities/operations remain CLOSED/suspended at this time: General Grant NM Mausoleum and Mosaic Benches General Grant NM Visitor Center and Public Restroom Facilities Check Website for latest information about site access, virtual tours, and, upcoming events Site description: A Unit of the National Park Service, the site serves as the final resting place of President Ulysses S. Grant and his wife, Julia. This is also the largest mausoleum in North America. It testifies to a people's gratitude for the man who ended the bloodiest conflict in American history as Commanding General of the Union Army and then, as the 18th President of the United States, who strove to heal a nation after a civil war and make rights for all citizens a reality.
I found it odd, this burial site for Grant and his wife, just because this isn't what is typically done here in the USA - except perhaps in DC. It's quite a grand structure - really beautiful and moving. Talk to to a ranger and take a tour. Then tour the surrounding area as well. Very very nice. Highly recommend.

This is the diner featured in the hit TV series "Seinfeld."
When in NYC I had to make the journey to Toms diner, I was actually in the area for a work meeting stumbled across this and as a huge sienfield fan popped in for brunch. The food was pleasant I think mikes diner in Boston is better, but the iconic nature made this special for me Check it out if you have the time
