Although Tucson's fantastic weather, national parks and forests and desert provide the perfect environment for tons of outdoor recreational activities, this city of half a million people also has its share of history and culture. With a history that goes back much further than many of its southwestern neighbors, Tucson boasts turn-of-the-century architecture, historic neighborhoods, museums and the Mission San Xavier del Bac, a still-functioning 18th-century mission considered one of the most beautiful in the U.S. Mexican and Native American influences are pervasive, and the city has a distinctly Western flavor. There's also a college-town atmosphere, thanks to the University of Arizona, which has its own share of museums and a science center. Whether golfing at a world-class golf resort, horseback riding, hiking in the wilderness, discovering desert flora and fauna at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum or exploring pre-Columbian and other art at the Tucson Art Museum, you'll have a mind-boggling array of things to do.

The excellent restaurants available for relaxation during your shopping experience are definitely an additional attraction to this wonderful venue in the beautiful foothills of Tucson

It’s local and cool! Go to Tucson’s West side for eclectic local shopping, and limited food and drinks! The “box-car” and “caged” vibe is quirky but cool. A bit of a West side local gem. Check it out for an hour or so as shops are small and not too many that you can’t see them all in a few hours!

After spending several days in Arizona, from Flagstaff to Tombstone, a visitor begins to wonder if there are more shopping malls than historic sites in this state. Some are larger and more elegant than others but all of them are worth browsing. Like Foothills Mall in Tucson. Located at 7401 North La Cholla Boulevard, it is a indoor regional shopping mall on the northwest side of town, in the community of Casas Adobes. Opened in 1982, it covers over 700,000 square feet of retail floor space and features over 90 stores, eight restaurants and an AMC Loews Theatre with 15 screens. Like many shopping malls, Foothills has experienced some ups and downs, losing some prominent anchor stores and adding others along the way. Today, tenants include Bath and Body Works, American Eagle Outfitters, a Walmart Super Center, Linens 'N' Things, Barnes & Noble, Applebee's and Outback Steakhouse.
