Now open only Thurs - Sunday. Service was not what we have had in the past. The beer was not cold, and we specifically asked the waiter for cold beer. The 'toasted french bread' was 1/2 of a piece of regular toast. The fried catfish lacked seasoning which is a bit of a sin for a Cajun type restaurant. The air conditioning was not functioning as it should and there was a large floor fan in use.Sadly we will not return unless reviews dated later than this one are 4 and 5 stars.

The menu for food and wine was extensive, offering what would seem something for everyone.We were a group of six and were seated at a booth which was very nice though the booth by us was VERY loud so it was difficult to hear when we were first seated. Two salads were ordered and both the Caesar and the wedge were very fresh and flavorful. The beef and filets were cooked as requested and quite tender. The Gorgonzola fillet didn't seem to have much cheese. The tortellini was very good but not as plentiful as hoped. The saltimbocca was spot on. The service was pleasant but could have been more attentive during the meal for refills of drinks and bread.

I dined here recently with friends and it was a wonderful experience. The waiter was friendly, attentive, and patient. We lingered over drinks before ordering so that we could visit awhile and the waiter did not rush us to order. I chose the Steak Salad as my entree and the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer. First let me say I lived in New Orleans for years...Second..I was in the restaurant business...third..I can be some what flexible because I realize in the restaurant business occasionally even the best dont come out perfect.....But..I've been eaten at Original Brennans as well as Dickies Steakhouse in New Orleans, Finns, Comanders Palace, Galatories, Emeralds, all kinds of dives as well and on and on over the world..Not bragging..just fact...but this place, to have the Brennan name stuck on it is a disgrace..I stopped in there for lunch yesterday...the "lunch special" was Shrimp Wednesday....fresh golf shrimp with Spanish, artichoke hearts, and tomatoes over penne pasta... Ordered a house salad, chargrilled oysters, and the lunch special... Asked for French dressing..No. ..dont have...but have any other...thousand island...No...dont have...have remoulade sauce that taste just like thousand island... OK....I was thinking, I hope their remoulade dont taste like thousand island but who knows ?..After about 30 minutes.. there wasn't but about 3 or 4 people in there..here comes the salad...It looked great...BUT...the what ever sauce/dressing taste like no remoulade or thousand island dressing I ever tasted...but..I forced some of it down...next..the chargrilled oysters...they were not chargrilled but gas oven burnt with something I have no idea what was, scattered on top of them and burnt to a crisp...this is no exaggeration...you couldn't tell what they were suppose to be.....finally the grand special. ..WEDNESDAY SHRIMP....It looked like something out of a picture...and tasted like it too....I swear...I took one bite and spit it out...The fresh shrimp were straight out of a microwave, still steaming...the grape tomatoes were luke warm..the spinach was kinda hot..and the pasta and water was just maybe room temprature...and something in it in little bitty grey green mushy pieces that I guess was suppose to be the artichoke hearts...oh yea..in the one bite I spit out was a piece of shrimp shell....It was awful ...Again..I swear...It had absolutely terrible blan taste....but the thing that topped the cake was the waitress.....She saw the we never ate one single bite of the Wednesday Shrimp mess, we picked around at the oysters...we did eat on the salads and ate the bread, that was good and drank our drinks...but she never asked if something was wrong...if we enjoyed our meal....not one word...laid down our check and walked off and went back to talking to some body...I dont know anything about Owen Brennan...but...he needs to go back to NOLA and take some more lessons from his kinfolks...

We needed somewhere for dinner that was open after 10PM in the Overton Park area. Found second Line by searching restaurants near by. What a great surprise. Renovated Old house, lots of charm with very high end bar service at reasonable prices. New Orleans cuisine well prepared with great service. We will be back.

I love coming to Soul Fish. First of all we have always been seated right away. Service is always prompt and friendly. They serve a variety of drinks including local Memphis beers. The food is always great. Best catfish in town. Large variety and they serve burgers as well as seafood. Very family friendly; great for couples.

As a continuation of our weekly luncheon dates, my wife and I chose this restaurant for our âdateâ this week.Somewhat unassuming, this restaurant is a LOT larger than it appears to be from the outside. Parking in the front is limited but there is ample parking in the rear.We arrived at the restaurant a little after 1:00 PM and quite frankly I thought the lunch crowd would have been served but this was not the case as the restaurant was packed. The first thing I noticed was the ânoise!â Upon looking around, I believe quite a bit of the noise is due the floors which are not carpeted. I would think think keeps the fish âodorsâ down but does not help with the noise levels.As previously noted, the restaurant was crowded however we only had to wait about 10 minutes to get a booth. We could have been seated sooner if we had taken a table. I also observed a patio area with some tables outside in the front of the restaurant.We found the wait staff to be extremely efficient, courteous, and apparently well trained (Thanks Sally!). Our every question was answered politely and with what appeared to be a genuine desire to provide accurate information.As to the meal, I will say this is a GREAT place to go if you want real Southern fried fish. They actually have a pretty extensive menu to include wines and pastries. This is the type place where locals and folks âin the knowâ go to satisfy their âregularâ fish cravings. It is very casual and as I previously mentioned, loud. This is not necessarily the best place to go if you want an intimate dining experience with your significant other. This is about having a great meal at a reasonable price. My wife had the shrimp basket and I had the fried catfish and shrimp. We both felt the shrimps were of good size and very good. The hush puppies which I understand are made in house were a real treat. I was also impressed that the dishes were not overly salty. For the two of us, our bill was approximately 33$.We both agreed this was a restaurant we would visi again, without hesitation.Io
