Reviews on Seafood food in Chincoteague Island, Virginia, United States. Wild horses can actually drag you away…to Chincoteague Island. Here, ponies run wild, you can catch or dig up your own seafood, and the beaches bring literal breaths of fresh air. The Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is a wonderfully unspoiled spot for bird watching, horseback riding, swimming and biking. Every summer since 1925, all of the feral ponies on Assateague are rounded up for the world-famous annual Pony Swim over to Chincoteague.

My wife had the crab cakes and I had the soft shell crabs. Good food with friendly hosts. We were looking for a place at lunch just looking for a sandwich. After reviewing the menu, we chose the dinner option.

On the recommendation of the folks from the Hampton Inn, we ate upstairs at Chatties because we wanted to a) eat at a bar, b) have good fresh fish, and c) eat where locals eat. 3 for 3. We had a very good time - struck up a conversation with another couple we met there while drinking, ate a great fried fish platter (with the obligatory crab cake) had a couple of drinks and got out for around $100. Went in shorts and t-shirt. Just what we wanted. Would definitely go back.

Yes, it is a little touristy. Yes, it is a tad pricey. However, you will never be able to choose your waterside dining (beach, water, view, floating dock, etc.) This is a must do for families with children, families, and cocktail hour. The staff is busy, but friendly. The food is good. The music is good. You should not miss the Ropewalk. Bonus if Brian is your bartender!

Fun place for seafood. Very simple ambiance with tables, block paper, and LOTS of seafood everywhere. Good value for money compared with other places. My scallops were great. However the king crab legs for another in our group were not very fresh. This would be good with a big group and/or kids. Helpful staff--- and quick to serve.

Local Favorite Since 1973. Located in the Heart of Downtown Chincoteague. Oysters & Clams on the Half-Shell. Great place for Family Gatherings, Parties,& Meetings
We often stop on Chincoteague Island on our way south to Virginia Beach or SC. It is a nice place to take a break and walk on the beach. We stop here off season, March and October, as there are not too many tourists then.Don's restaurant has not much character BUT it has very good seafood. At this visit I had the oyster stew, which was very good. Perhaps it is not a stew but more of a soup. Eight plump oysters swimming in a delicate frothy broth.

Etta's Restaurant was a very enjoyable dining experience. The service was great and very fast. The Shrimp and Crab PotPie was Very Good. They have an extensive wine, liquor, and beer selection, although they only serve a minimum number of mixed drinks. The are open at 5P for Dinner Only Service.

Dropped into The Village Restaurant based on Trip Advisor rating. Restaurant is very popular and we had a 20 min wait on an off-season Wednesday night. Atmosphere was simple but friendly. Service got off to a slow start but service was very friendly and helpful. We decided to get two appetizers, fried oysters and steamed clams, and share the seafood platter that included a dinner size portion of flounder, 4 scallops, oysters, clams, shrimp, crab imperial and a lobster tail! It was a huge portion of food that was more than enough for two people even without the appetizers. It was some of the freshest, tastiest seafood we ever had and we are seafood foodies. Donât miss the Village if youâre in Chincoteague.

For generations, the folks at AJ's have been passing down delicious seafood recipes from parent to child. We specialize in historically great seafood.
This was the restaurant we mostly ate at during our week on Chincoteague, and we were really happy with our meals every time. I had salmon, sauteed scallops, tuna, swordfish, and a mixed green salad as my five dinners here. Each was superb. As was dessert, when we had it. Ken and Dawn, who were our servers during various visits, were top notch. We're happy you enjoyed your meals with us during your time in Chincoteague, Matthew. It's wonderful you had such positive service experiences with Ken and Dawn. Looking forward to the next time you make it back our way!Your friends,AJ's Team
