The food was good, however the crabs were tiny, almost illegal size. I honestly think my waitress was intoxicated which was extremely annoying especially since my family and I were trying to enjoy my husbands birthday celebration. You could tell there was tension between alot of the staff members. The atmosphere was un-nerving to say the least. Maybe with a different crew of workers we would come back.

Made a reservation for a Saturday night birthday dinner. The restaurant is quaint, looks like a house from the outside. There are about 6 tables on the front porch area, a patio area with seating out back and a small dining area inside. This restaurant is not traditional - as in there is no wait staff to take your order or refill your drinks. You have to go up to the counter to order, there was a line the entire time we were eating, at times stretching right past our table. To start, I had the layered soup - crab bisque over tomato basil - it was SO good...the highlight of the meal. I ordered the surf and turf entree with the shrimp skewers and filet. The meal included 2 sides - I went with the fries and side salad. The food was good, but I would go with the crab cakes (no filler!) next time - thatâs what my husband had and they were very good. To finish the meal, we had their homemade ice cream - the cookies and cream was phenomenal! Once you place your order at the counter, you get your drinks and go to your table with a number and they bring out the food and clear dishes when you finish. They donât refill your sodas for you, but they will bring additional beer or cocktails if you ask. Our reservation was for 6:00 and the dinner crowd really increased during our time there, probably peaking around 7:00 (we ended up donating our 2 extra chairs to 2 other groups). There is a soda machine to get your own refills, and they offer bottled beers and some cocktails (Orange Crush). Overall it was a pleasant experience, but it is a bit pricey (for my husband and myself it was around $75, excluding the ice cream)

My wife and I went to Baker's for a casual dinner. While the menu is extensive we went for the half pound cheese burger with bacon and the pulled pork. The pulled pork was a mashed kind of pork and was very disappointing. The cheese burger was good, large and came with fries and a pickle. The plating was odd as both dishes came on relatively small plates that limited the portion of accompanying fries. They forgot the bacon on my order and I had to wait some time for it to arrive. The waitress was very helpful and attentive. It was difficult getting wifi in the dining area. I'd have to say that if I was in the area again I'd give Baker's a pass. Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with us. We pride ourselves on the food we serve, so it's disheartening to know that it did not meet your standards. We appreciate all the feedback from our guests and hope you are willing to give us another shot, so we have the opportunity to redeem ourselves in your eyes!

Fun trip with very nice people. Family run business. They had cancellations at the last minute but did not want to disappoint us so they took us on the tour without their usual minimum number on board, and we appreciated their kindness.

We went because one of us wanted crabs! She loved them. I am lazy and had an awesome Crabcake. Our other friend loved the fried shrimp. My husband had the meatballs and manicotti. The Italian is their best kept secret! It was fantastic!

The Bayard is in an unassuming but historic building at the end of a one way street, but well worth the effort to search and find parking (though we learned there is a spill over lot on the edge of town). All staff were friendly and welcoming. One of the signature cocktails, The Mariner, was an intriguing blend of rye whiskey, Fernet Branca and floral Genepy. With many interesting choices it was hard to choose, but we finally decided on fresh oysters on the half shell and the Chesapeake seasoned crab fries for appetizers. The chicken lettuce wraps were well seasoned and light. The house special of Anaheim peppers stuffed with shrimp, crab and green peppers was phenomenal. The green bean side was perfect. The key lime pie and Smith Island cake were well make and a great ending to an enjoyable meal with a full view of the canal.Thank you so much for coming to the Bayard House and we look forward to your visit next Tuesday!

Fine Dining and up-scale Bar in a Historic Town
We thought the food was very good but not worth the prices that they charge. Their staff is top notch in their professionalism and their personalities!! The shrimp and crab appetizer and the brussel sprouts are ridiculously good and they could have been my meal. The issue is the food doesn't come out from the kitchen the way you asked for it. My wife asked for a filet to be cooked meduim rare more on the rare side and it came out medium and I asked for my yellow fin tuna to be rare and it came out medium. There also is a size difference in the 7 oz filets, our friend had a filet also and it was significantly bigger than my wifes. Like I said the food is very good but at the prices they charge you should get it the way you ordered it.

Schaefer's Canal House is tucked away in the historic town of Chesapeake City, Maryland. Our establishment, while steeped with local history, is more than just a restaurant, banquet, & marina but a place where people from all walks of life come to share s
Schaefer's Canal House is definitely worth taking a trip for. Having been there before a year ago our friends suggested taking a road trip for lunch and Schaefer's was our choice. The food and views make traveling from Bethlehem, Pa worthwhile. Starting off with oysters on the half shell, crab dip and the seafood nachos couldn't have been better. Our entree's consisted of the Combo PO'Boy, Shrimp taco's, Crab Melt and a caesar salad. All of which were mouth watering and enjoyed very much. Our server Willa was fantastic and made of lunch trip even more enjoyable.
