"This is true New Mexican food. The best sopaipillas around. This is where the locals eat".
Everything from the food, to the service and to the friendliness of the staff was wonderful! We were staying at a location in the Buffalo Thunder Resort and this restaurant is only a few miles north.... very easy to locate. From the moment we entered the manager was smiling and welcoming. This continued with the server who patiently answered our questions. The food was served in a very reasonable amount of time and to our pleasant surprise a sopaipilla was served along with our order even though it had not been specified on the menu description. The sopaipilla's are wonderful. The chicken stuff sopaipilla was filled with tender chicken. We returned for two more dinners during our visit in the area and were never disappointed. The manager and the servers even recognized us, which is also nice and made us feel very welcome.

We stopped by Paragua based on the recommendation of a local merchant in Chimayo. Boy were we disappointed. Admittedly, we arrived a little later than the usual lunch hour, maybe 1:30 or so, but my chicken enchilada was served cold. Texture was not right and most important of all, it was tasteless. Sure, I appreciate the quick service and low price---but food quality matters. I wouldn't recommend eating here.

Because we roomed at the Hacienda Rancho de Chimayo (across the street), we ate several meals at the Rancho de Chimayo Restaurante---3 dinners and 2 breakfasts. We found no better food or service during our New Mexico trip!
Servings of their entrees were very generous---often more than I could eat. For dinner we chose a variety of menu items---taco salad, tortilla soup and salad, steak quesadilla, sopailla, salmon salad, chicken breasts with chili con queso, avocado and shrimp salad, caramel cheesecake and raspberry cheesecake, margaritas---all of it fresh, abundant, and delicious. I especially enjoyed the Chimayo ranch dressing on the salads and the very spicy salsa. Yum!
With each meal we had warm, friendly, attentive servers. Even on weekends, when every table was full, our food did not take long to arrive. On weekend nights, a pair of musicians (with trumpet & guitar) roving from table to table provided delightful entertainment---both in their skilled playing & their wonderful humor. We loved them!
Breakfast portions were also huge---whether omelettes, oatmeal, or fresh fruit. Overall, eating at Rancho de Chimayo Restaurante is like coming home to family. My mom enjoyed our experiences so much that she saw the owner ("Mrs J") after our last breakfast & thanked her. We cannot wait to go back.

Headed north for a Gallery tour outing to Cordova and Truchas, stopped for takeout breakfast burritos with bacon and green Chile. El Parasol (like its sister restaurants in Santa Fe and Espanola) is always a good choice for authentic Northern NM fast food. This time the breakfast burritos were just great, but watch out, the green Chile (though not quite tear inducing) is lip-numbingly hot.

At La Cocina, our dishes use Native New Mexican ingredients and spices. Proudly serving Northern New Mexico for 46 years!
By far THE best New Mexican food in a 30 mile radius. We have lived in the area for over 25 years and if you want to eat REAL New Mexican food, this is the place. Real authentic food, large portion sizes, great service. They also have a good beer selection, including several NM craft beers from SF Brewery.

Last weekend I met some friends for dinner at La Mesita. The menu is old fashioned--fried chicken is their claim to fame, they also offer grilled cheese sandwiches, mac and cheese, a Caesar salad, burgers, etc. My friends had the chicken preceded by house salads. Their salads were swimming in dressing and contained pale slices of tomatoes. They all raved about the chicken which was heavily coated in crispy batter. I had the mac and cheese with green Chile. It was okay, nothing special.
My order was incorrect and I had to track down the waiter to get it corrected. No one offered to bring us more drinks. Obviously, the service was slack and I found the ambiance minimal.

value for money...well not really...a small pint of salsa was 5 bucks... tamales were 2.50 each but they were good..no complaints on that front by way of taste or quality... biscochitos..3 for 2.50...oh well...would i go back? yes... but get selective tamales and be done...

The Roadrunner Café is a small family owned (since 1981) business located in Pojoaque, New Mexico. We are open for breakfast and lunch. The menu includes breakfast (Breakfast Burritos, Huevos Rancheros, Traditional breakfast-- eggs, freshly made hash browns, meats like Top Sirloin steak/ bacon/ham/sausage; pancakes, French toast,etc.). Our lunch items includes New Mexican cuisine served with homemade Red or Green Chile (Try our famous sopapaillas); other lunch items such as Hamburgers, Club Sandwich, and other sandwiches; We have Fried Chicken or Chicken Fried steak served with mash potatoes and gravy, for lunch. Great place to eat! The locals love it. Come join us.
It's old but well kept, perfectly normal for northern New Mexico. Food is basic diner fare and some excellent spanish selections. The staff is friendly and fun, the place is clean and neat, bright and simple. As far as we can tell (haven't tried everything) anything you order will taste good, fill you up, and leave plenty of change in your pocket. If you like quirky diners at all, this one is a real find. Enjoy!

We recently had to leave our Hotel up the road because of so many smokers on location. We drove down to McDonalds and found it completely smoke free. The service was exemplary, the place was very clean and the food was typical McDonalds but it tasted better because of the service and cleanliness that we encountered. We would definitely stop again.
