Reviewed in Arkansas Living magazine by Doug White in the July 2012 issue. Nick Botini ran a restaurant in Harrison that had excellent reviews. He's an accomplished chef and has developed his own unique combination of spices for some wonderfully tasteful dishes.
While visiting in the area, we have driven by the Low Gap many times but never stopped. As we were in a cabin in Ponca, we went to the Low Gap as it was close. Our party of 4 had an assortment of choices. I had the lunch special of catfish and was very impressed....great catfish and fries. The rest of my family enjoyed their choices as well. Looks like we had been passing up a good place....we will always stop to eat during future visits!

Sweet breakfast favorites heavy on omelets and pancakes, a bevy of burgers, catfish and more at the oldest restaurant in Newton County.
The service was good, everyone enjoyed their meal and the waitress and owner stopped by to ask if everyone was satisfied. They are open 7 days and always crowded. People come from other states to eat here, amazing because its in the middle of nowhere. There are motorcycle, Porch/sport car enthusiasts and locals eating here.

Cliff House Inn and Restaurant overlooks the Arkansas Grand Canyon. We are a seasonal business open from early March through the first to second weekend in November. (It depends on the fall leaves on the trees as to when we close in November. Call for hours after the first weekend in Nov). Restaurant hours during our season are 8 am to 2:45 pm Sunday through Thursday and 8 am to 7:45 pm Friday and Saturday. We have a 5 unit motel and 3 cabins. The cabins are open year-round.
While on a hiking vacation in northern AR, we read a Trip Advisor review of the Cliff House and checked it out ourselves. It did not disappoint. Great view of the Arkansas Canyon, interesting decor on the walls, an attentive wait staff, friendly owner, and wonderful food all made for an excellent rating. The pies were scrumptious, but we took them to go as the meals were so large!

At the end of a long hot day floating the Buffalo River, we stopped by the Arkansas House in Jasper Arkansas. It's a home-style hamburger and hotdog restaurant, geared toward tourists who float through Jasper. (Pen intended.) But the food here is organic or all-natural and includes elk and Buffalo as a meat option. Those options are not available elsewhere in Jasper. Our group had elk burgers and buffalo hot dogs all around. I opted for the cheese enchiladas smothered in elk chili. This tasted wonderful! I was especially impressed by the salad, which included real greens and Romain lettuce! Though I had to ask for salad dressing. They need a Southwest Ranch or something. The waitstaff was friendly, beyond expectation, considering we walked in 10 minutes before closing. Lookin around, the wall decorations and literature espouse a religion that's a bit unusual. But with whole food this well prepared, who cares if Jesus is an alien. :P

We weren't in a hurry so slow didn't matter much. A sandwich, salad, piece of pie - $30. WOW. Organic whatever that's way too much for lunch for 2. We even had water to drink. But the strangest thing was the book display where they were giving away a book that tells you Jesus was an alien. Um....what? Def not going back.

Had lunch here on our day trip to Jasper. They aslo have a Mama deluca's Pizza in the same building. Never tried it before so I got a custom made Calzone. It was Very Good! Barb got her usual Subway and was impressed. The staff was very friendly and seemed happy to wait on us.

While staying near Jasper we saw signs touting homemade pie. The hours for the cafe were such that we only caught them open once in our 3 trips to Jasper and then only on a whim as it wasn't their posted business hours. We were really looking forward to homemade pie but only had one choice, coconut cream. I can understand that as it is a small place but when we got the pie back to the cabin to eat it we were very disappointed. It resembled a pudding pie from a box mix. I was so glad we only bought the 2 slices instead of the 1/2 pie we considered. Don't know about the quality of any of the other food or the service as we didn't stay, just took our pie to go. Will not be going back I think.

Pleasant surprise in the middle of nowhere. You will love it. The food is incredible and is what you would expect in a large city.
