I stopped in here on a recent trip with some friends, on the advice of one of our group. What a wonderful and charming experience. The location is an old plantation house located just outside of Camden Alabama. It has been restored to it's glory and is used as a wonderful and charming restaurant. I had the steak medium rare with fries and bread, all if it was tasty, flavorful and served quickly. The steak was tender and full of flavor, spiced slightly to add some zest. Everything was excellent and the service was helpful, knowledgeable of the dishes and extremely polite. I can't wait to visit the area again to dine here at least one more time.

This sandwich is legendary. A COB...Chicken on a Bun! The crispy juicy chicken, the special secret sauce, the jalapeños (optional), the fresh bun...paired with a side of crispy thin onion rings or tater tots and your meal is complete.
Another day...chicken salad, fried chicken salad, bacon grilled cheese, or the best chicken biscuit or bacon, egg and cheese biscuit in the world. Wait, I forgot the soft, fresh cinnamon rolls! A must visit for tourists and residents alike.

I little jewel in this small town. Wonderful, fresh, home-cooked meat and three restaurant. Very clean, wonderful and attentive service. The food was fresh and seasoned very well. The best Chicken Spaghetti I have ever eaten.....better than my grandmother's (shhh Just our secret!). Will certainly return to this establishment when I return to Camden. You can tell it's a great spot when all the locals begin showing up at lunch time. The place became very crowded, but handled the lunch crowd with ease. You go to the cafeteria line to place your order, then the food is delivered to your table. You must try!

Being from the heart of Tex-Mex country, I was skeptical about Mexican food in the heart of Alabama, but this place definitely delivers. They offer all the standards, plus a few things with their own twist. They also offer a choice of the "American" version or the "Mexican" version of several entrees. This is not the blow-the-top-of-your-head-off Mexican food, but the amount of heat was good, and left room for tastes & flavors other than pepper. Good service, nice atmosphere; it all added up to a tasty, filling meal.

I've seen some of the other reviews for this location, and can't understand the problem. I'm definitely an "out of towner", and have always had good service here. I generally eat here when I am in town on a hunting trip with friends - none of whom live in the immediate area. We are always in a group of at least 6 and usually more. Always good service, and if the owner is available they always visit our table.
On the the food. I have tried the ribeye, smoked chicken, burger and a couple of apps. Everything that I have had has been very good. The service is always quite good, and the waitresses always keep up with our drinks and water. I will continue to dine at this location when I am in the area (once or twice per year) and would recommend that others try it if you are in the area.

The Southern Inn is clean and they have done some things to update the place to make it more comfortable. Our room had new carpet and a relatively new bathroom. Nothing fancy, but nice touches which demonstrate the owner's interest in making guests feel as if they're at home. One thing they could do to improve the experience would be to get more comfortable beds. Overall, I would stay here again if I found myself in Wilcox County and couldn't make the trek back to Selma for the night.

This is a little gem of a dining experience in Camden Alabama. The food and service are always tops. This a a "meat and three sides" restaurant that is a counter service type location. I've had a couple of meals here, and it is always good food. This last visit I had fried pork chops, corn, and mac and cheese with the cornbread and rolls. Ms. Kitty makes some awesome cornbread! You also get a choice of lemonade or tea, I had the pink lemonade. If you are in the area, and it isn't too crowded, you should definitely give this place a try - you won't be disappointed..

How can you go to a fast food place and have them be out of burgers and fries? I don't know, but this place managed it. They were also out of napkins, and there is a grocery right next door. I really don't like to write negative reviews on trip advisor, but I had to for this place. I hope that they can get themselves straightened out, there aren't a whole lot of choices in town.
I don't plan on visiting again.
