We have tried pizza's all over the world and this pizza joint could do with a few lessons on how to make different bases. The good thing going for this restaurant is that kids won't know the different, so they'll sell there product to them.

We had no choice as this was the only restaurant open.
We had a T-bone steak how badly can you cook a rare T-bone?? Terribly.
I had onion rings, I couldn't find the onions. Chicken wings were deformed that's got to be a sign right there.....
The only saving grace was we took our own wine, to wash down the awful food.
I believe that the same man owns all the bars and restaurant in this town - well someone needs to tell him that he needs to have more then one restaurant open on a Tuesday. Especially when this little town is busy with tourists.

Popped in on my way home over the mountain. Pleasant setting, but the food is a throwback to 80`s cuisine. Baconwrapped asparagus, the asparagus stem wasn cut, and they werent peeled. Overdone tenderloin, decent bearnaise, boring oliveoil-cooked cherrytomatoes, nearly raw stringbeans, overgarliced pommes anna. Saw it coming already in the producecombinations on the menu, but had to eat something...then, when the bread and aioli arrived.., dry foccaccia and overgarliced aioli.
There is no talent in the kitchen at all.
Even if everything had been cooked to perfection, well, its still immensly boring and uncreative.
Reminds me of the two worst restaurants in Norway, the chains: Egon and Big Horn steak house. Just awful food!
The title of this review can also be regarded as a comment on the entire foodindustry at Beitostølen. Steer clear of posh places, go for burgers and pizza and the like, foods that are more diffucult to mess up :)

A lovely place to be with outside decking and a cozy interior. Helpful waiter kindly translated the menu to English for us and we had some tasty dishes. Norwegian prawn cocktail on toast (skagen) with truffle fries was very tasty, fresh and filling. Friends also had the moules frites which they loved.

After a long day of hiking, we dropped by an ordered some chinese food to bring back to the cabin. The food was ready in 10 minutes.
The sliced beef in soya sauce was rather dull and tasteless. My husband enjoyed the fried rice.
We found the prices quite high, but the portions were very large, so could be shared between two people.

På idylliske Jotnetunet på Beitostølen Camping ligger Hytta Mat og Vinhus. Restaurant i Beitostølen. Menyen er spennende og variert og lokalet er intimt, lunt og varmt. Atmosfæren er avslappende og stemningen alltid på topp utover kvelden.
Firstly, this place is a sweet little grotto and overall, the ambience was fun....we were also very happy with the service.
They only have large tables.....if you are 2 people...or more, you may be sharing the table with others...
As others have said, the food is probably the best in the area...however, the standard is fairly low so this is a bit of a hollow compliment....the scallops were fine, the skate and steak were ok...not fabulous
The béarnaise was creamy but lacked flavour....more vinegar, shallots and herbs needed IMHO.
Our only real gripe was as follows...the restaurant has a hot plate dish on the menu...it’s like a little grill at the table where people cook their own meat....the problem is the smell and smoke from the adjacent tables....and this was a Saturday....that say it is only served on a Friday....it’s like being in the kitchen without an extractor fan...it put us off our food actually....if the people weren’t so nice I would have refused to pay part of the bill....
2 starters, 2 main courses, 1 bottle of wine....£150 excluding tip...

We visited the bakery about an hour before closing and they still had a good choice of produce. We had a Sandwich, cake and coffee, all of which was very nice. It was a nice atmosphere in there. The only downside if you're in Beitostolen for a week is that it's only open at weekends. It's also about a 5 minute walk from the town centre but worth it.

We are small cheese factory and micro brewery. In a relaxing mountain atmosphere you can enjoy cheese selection from our production together with our beer, Beito pilsner and Beito ale. For meat lovers we can have a selection of localy produced dried sausage.
This is the best option in town for a beer and a snack after your ski day. They make great beer and great cheese (and sausage too), and serve it up with a smile in a pleasant atmosphere.
