My husband & I just came back from a week vacation!We booked this tour, it was well worth it! It was a nice kind of private tour, only two of us and two other ladies!Our guide Darcio,he was so good of the history of Azores!We learned so much of the cultural & history of the inland!And the lunch and all the stops he brought us to were amazing! Wine & cheese tasting with a gelato yummy ice cream at the end! Highly recommend this tour and ( Darcio) for your guide! He also took some great photos for us!

The best way hands down to learn about this amazing island is to book the full day tour with Antonio. He is so knowledgeable and professional. It only took until lunch time, to realize that we wanted to extend our time with him, so we scheduled 2 more days of tours that he customized listening to our interests. Bonuses: photography tips that he shares along the way, his fantastic stories, the company van is comfortable and luxurious, lunch at local places, many recommendations. We feel like we made a true friend on the island. I highly recommend any tour with Antonio.

Private and You decide what time to end the tour! According to the defined history the Portuguese were the first to discover the Azores. It was discovered in the year 1427, a total of 591 years a go. What you will see on this tour are much older structures with more of 1000 years located in several points of the Island that do not belong to the Portuguese. These structures belong to civilizations Megalithic e Phoenicians. This last one was discovered by us and explored by one team from the National Geographic. If you are in Terceira and like a bit of adventure and enjoy off the beaten track activities I highly recommend you to do this tour with Juca. Juca is very knowledgable of the hidden gems on the island and passionate about his work. Also, he makes sure you are safe while visiting the caves. Last but not least, he is passionate about photography and thus, he will take take some really nice shots of you. This was one of the best tours have done so far!

I had booked this tour well in advance and was looking forward to it. There I was, waiting to be picked up, as arranged, outside the hotel. After 20 minutes of no-show, I phoned the number and was informed that Algar de Carvão isn't open on Mondays, so the operator had cancelled the trip. This incompetence ruined my trip to Terceira. The tour operator should obviously not accept bookings for days when attractions are closed. I could easily have planned to do things differently had I been warned in time. I asked for a refund over the phone - after all, it was the operator who cancelled, not me - but so far it has not been forthcoming.

I've ever been on... it was very informative and an overall fun experience... literally a 9-6 tour - so we were exhausted at the end... but the tour guide (Mara) was fabulous and it never felt long - time just flew... we went all around the island seeing the major sites... we had an traditional azorian meal at a little restaurant along the way that overlooks the sea where "alcatra" was served followed by the "dona amelia cake"... but for me the highlight was going down in a 3200 year old volcano - Algar do Carvão... *spectacular* and something I will never forget...

Absolutely magnificent! Unbelievable views, truly! We are so glad we did this tour, was awesome, definitely recommend while visiting here!! There is very steep stairs and some small holes to fit through, but if you decide not to do it that’s fine too. You can just look around without completely doing whole cave! Definitely would recommend this to all! Nit sure if ok fir very small children though. Great day!

Being private this tour has no fixed attractions or timeline since we base the itinerary on our guests preferences as well as weather and light conditions. We can either go on a hike with you or simply drive around the island or even go underground to the caves, it's up to you and your preferences. It's important you have your own camera since you can also take the opportunity to learn from it. Lunch is optional but we will always offer you some suggestions about the best places on the island. 9. Terceira Island in two days!
This package is the most complete option to visit Terceira island! This tour includes areas south, east, center and north of Terceira island. We will have the opportunity to see empires, centuries-old churches, bays full of history, visit to one of the only two volcanoes that can be visited in the world - Algar do Carvão -, a smoking field, visit to the Biscoitos wine area, view of the largest islands in the Azores and even a patchwork… well, let's say it's a crater but you will agree with us! It also includes a visit to the Whale Museum and fishing port, observation of the making of a piece of clay made by hand in a pottery and stop at a viewpoint to observe three other islands of the central group. We stopped at a local restaurant for lunch. The second day will start with the trail of the Black Mysteries for an average duration of 2.5 hours in the center of the island. After the trail we will go to the Lagoa das Patas area, where we will have a picnic, in a moment of relaxed interaction in the heart of the Azorean nature.

Melissa is simply the best. She is super attentive, thorough, take her time with you, very knowledgeable and overall a pleasant person. I did ZEN hike with meditation in the end, I have never meditated before, Melissa walked me through that experience and I will be back and will do it again. It was relaxing experience, with work out, leaves you peaceful and full of energy. You will not regret using this company!!! Simple excellent !!!
