This is a moving tribute to those from the area who served in various wars. It also contains information panels which provide interesting background to the memorial and to the war history of the town. Take the time to stop, read the panels and consider what the monument means.

Another wonderful silo in the trail throughout this area. You can easily do 4 towns with silos in a morning. This one had an interesting twist in the story of the Coles family (who started Coles supermarkets). Well worth reading.

Painted by Jimmy DVate, this pretty silo art work features scenes from the local Barmah Forest. There isn’t much to else to do in Picola apart from an interesting historic display at the nearby heritage park but it’s definitely worth doing out of your way to visit. TOILETS: located just down the road at Picola Heritage Park FOOD: no food outlets in town - nearest eateries are Barmah or Nathalia. DIRECTIONS: from Echuca you need to take the dirt road called Stewart’s Bridge rd due to border closure at Moama. Or easy to visit otherwise from other direction

excellent park, very green and lots of information about how the weir came to be with old photos of how it was built. Plenty of room, overlooks the Murray river, and it is awesome to walk across the weir wall and look at the spillways when they are open to allow water through. Great place to watch the sunset over the river. Plenty of animal life to see, from above there are turtles, pelicans, water birds and fish hovering about. Lots of birds as well in the trees.

In February 2018, Sobrane Simcock became the first female to paint a silo in Australia. She painted dancing bolgas on the concrete silos - there are 3 so make sure you see the brolga on the back of the silo. In 2019, Sobrane added more birds, flora and colour to the steel silo. This now has a Kookaburra (the original) plus a Galah, a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, a Sacred Kingfisher, a Straw Necked Ibis and 2 Blue Wrens all nestled in gum tree foliage and Gum Flowers and the native Billy Button leaves and flowers. North Vic Trails is a Non Profit Community Group consisting of people from small towns. We are trying to help our rural regional towns suffering in the current climate especially after the drought and bushfires and now COVID 19 restrictions. Through promoting the silo art, other artworks and features for small town communities we hope to increase tourism to the northern regions of Victoria. So come visit us, stay for a bit and enjoy the many fabulous sights we have to offer.
This was the last stop for us on the Benalla Silo Art trail, they are really colourful silo art and are definitely worth doing the entire trail to see.
