Baltic Opera - Gdansk

Never seen an opera before, even with English surtitles. I was trying to look for something to do on a quiet Sunday evening and found that this Opera House was performing La Traviata - which I’d heard was a very good opera for beginners to see. Even with the Polish surtitles, it was simple to follow some form of plot through the incredible ability of all on stage. The programme also contained an English act-by-act synopsis which helped greatly too! Most of the staff I encountered didn’t know any or much English, but we were all very patient to ensure that we were able to understand the jist of the conversations.

Grand Theatre of Moniuszko

The beautiful Opera House is one of the most characteristic places in Poznań. An opera theater located on Fredro street. The facade of the building is actually a huge portico built in accordance with all the classical architecture rules of ancient Rome. On the both sides of monumental steps are situated the sculptures . On the left side it is a woman on a lion, symbolizing Lyric. On the right a man with a panther walking next to him , representing Drama. At the top of the stairs are six giant columns carrying a triangular tympanum topped with a building symbol - a Pegasus. The theater hall is realy beautiful. One of the places in Poznań that is worth seeing.Great place with a vibe. I recommend to all.

It was founded in 1961 by Stefan Sutkowski ( who became its long-time managing and artistic director), Joanna and Jan Kulma, Zofia Wierchowicz, Andrzej Sadowski and Juliusz Borzym. Since October 15, 1986, the Warsaw Chamber Opera has been performing in its own theatre, located in the historic 1775 building at Al. Solidarności 76b. The Opera building, with its intimate interior and excellent acoustics, is inscribed in the register of historical monuments of Warsaw. The repertoire of the Chamber Opera is characterized by a huge variety of musical styles and forms of the performed works: from medieval mysteries, through early and late Baroque opera, classical opera, 18th-century mime, Rossini and Donizetti, to contemporary stage works some of which were written to Warsaw Chamber Opera's commission. The Opera artists also perform chamber, oratorio and a symphony music of different eras. The Warsaw Chamb
