If you seek the true essence of Orkney, we urge you to join us!
A really good visit of a small distillery. As they explain when you're there, gin distilleries are different to what you might imagine a distillery looks like, in that they're much smaller compared to whiskey ones. In the case of this one you can see the whole process through one window and you're not necessarily waking round huge vats. So if you're expecting that you might be a bit surprised. This is more of a tasting session rather than a tour. We had 4 different types of their gin with the botanicals for tasting and when that's finished you can choose your own full G&T pairing. The gins were great with a wide variety, so there's definitely something you will like in there. This was a good fun hour or so and would recommend if you're staying in Kirkwall/Shetland. Plus you get a discount in their shop if you've been on this!

Came across this place by accident almost. We were cycling to the Italian Chapel and were trying to figure out how far down we could continue cycling and still find somewhere to stop for a cuppa tea to warm up, and cake to get the energy levels back up. I came across this place during my research and found it was a free open day so of course we went and were pleasantly surprised. Not only was the cafe nice, but the fossil/hertitage element was very interesting and well done. Well worth the visit! Even better, we found a garden tucked around the back and we simply sat for 30 mins out of the wind and basking in the sunshine like a pair of lizards! :)

We ate here during Orkney folk festival. It’s best to book as it is very popular! Great menu especially seafood , lovely friendly staff , orkney dark island amongst great real ale choices and local feel with Celtic music -all right opposite the northlink ferry ( and on beautiful Stromness high street) you could not get better !

Regular visitor to Skippers and the Kirkwall Hotel through work. Just needed to comment on the food as it's always good. The two things that cannot be beaten anywhere is firstly their seafood Platter. Which is fresh and tastes fabulous every time and is prepared and presented to perfection. Secondly their gravy which is out of this world I would have it with everything (except the platter ????). Always sports on in the background and plenty of visitors/locals. If your in Orkney well worth dropping in.
An new outdoor covered bar experience in the heart of Kirkwall. Oot The Back is fitted with ten individual, heated booths, allowing those who visit to enjoy their drinks in a safe, socially distanced environment.
