Every neighborhood in San Francisco has its own personality, from the hippie chic of the Upper Haight to the hipster grit of the Mission. The Marina district boasts trendy bistros and postcard-perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Noe Valley offers quaint and quiet boutiques. Wave hello to the sea lions at Pier 39, and sample local cheese and charcuterie at the Ferry Building. Sit in on a yoga session in Dolores Park or marvel at the Dutch Windmill across from Ocean Beach.

As the US stepped into 1920, prohibition was in full force. Though secretly tucked away in basements and elevated rooms, people were still drinking alcohol at 'Speakeasy' restaurants. Upstairs at 1630 Powell Street is one of the original Speakeasy venues of San Francisco where every Monday night an invite only underground dinner takes place. Come join us on Monday for some history and some delicious food!

Very popular watering hole with a younger crowd serving both beer and coffee.

I ended up stopping at the Grant & Green based on a recommendation from a family member who had spent plenty of time in the area, I was not disappointed. The drink special alone was worth stopping in, buy one get one on draft beers or well drinks. I was in on a Sunday night, and it was slow for the most part, so I'm not sure how the service is during busy times, but no complaints from me. There is a $15 minimum so either plan on bringing cash, or spending that much. The bar itself is what you'd expect from a dive, or saloon, big old bar, stage for bands, pool tables, dim lits, etc. The name itself comes from the intersection on which the bar is located, and their drink tickets have pictures of grant on them which is a nice touch. If you're in North Beach, stop by, a great place for a good happy hour, and locals.
