One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done (and I live in Switzerland where we have so many stunning hikes). This hike doesn’t take long, less than 3 hours if you’re in good shape, and the variety of terrain you see - mountains, glacier, forest, streams, waterfalls - is spectacular. The trail is rocky and steep in parts, requiring use of ropes and ladders to scramble up some of the slopes. You also have to cross a few muddy, wet areas, so be sure to wear good hiking shoes. There's parking available in Buer for a fee, as well as a campsite. Enjoy!

Come join us from fjord to mountain and waterfalls, along marked paths to mountain lakes rich in fish. In Tyssedal you'll find buildings with exciting architecture and an outdoor swimming pool. Impressing is the power plant Tysso (1906-18) with power station, penstock, distribution reservoir and keeper's house. Today the power station i s a museum and you can get guided tours here. In Skjeggedal valley, Ringedalsdammen is located (1910-18), constructed in stone copying the old middle age castles - with parapet at the top. Tyssedal and Skjeggedal is a journey through the new Norway from the mill house (1830) through Norwegian history of hydropower.

In Roeldal the Winter arrives early, before Christmas and lasts until May. And there is lots of snow. In Roeldal you will find downhill trails and off-piste riding for all abilities. Our resort includes two chair lifts, five drag lifts, over a dozen trails, unlimited free-skiing terrain, mostly above the treeline in the deepest snow in Europe. Roeldal Ski Resort can accommodate all your alpine needs, from first-timers to the adventure-seeker and hardcore racer. The chair lift transports all guests to 1000 m.a.s.l. Up here, with breathtaking views of the valley, steep mountains and the rest of the ski resort, you will find a cafe, a beginners lift and a great area for picnics and snow play. More experienced riders have four more drag lifts to explore. Our summit lift takes you all the way up to 1300 m.a.s.l, with miles and miles of freshly groomed trails or untouched powder waiting for you!
