Had a great time hiking on the glacier. We did the Short Blue Ice Hike with Jostedalen Breførarlag and had a great experience. As advertised, it is a bit of a trek in - 15 minutes on the boat (each way) + 45 minutes uphill to get from the lake to the glacier. Does require at least a moderate fitness level (one person in our larger group was struggling to make it up to the glacier so turned back before going on the glacier). Great views along the way. Once on the ice, we stopped a number of times for pictures and a snack break. We had a great Nepalese guide who definitely knew his stuff - we felt very safe on the glacier - and was able to take some pictures for us as well. Make sure to clarify what parking lot to meet at (its the one on the lake) and leave enough time to get through the toll between the lot at the glacier center and the meeting point. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting the area! Leave time to look around the exhibits at the Glacier center before/after as well - great views off the back deck.

Although we didn’t climb Molden in January, we drove past it daily as we were staying on Mollandsmarki road. You might need chains on your car depending on weather...we wouldn’t of gotten up the road without them.

Breheimsenteret is a national park centre for both Jostedalsbreen and Breheimen National Park. There is a museum with interactive screens telling the story of the Luster-region, how glaciers are created and a picture slideshow from the whole region. The entrance fee is between 55-85 kr. This is also the place to book all glacier hiking, as well as to get information about other activities in Jostedal. The restaurant has a great view of Nigardsbreen and is the perfect place to relax after visiting the glacier. The restaurant serve homemade pizza and sandwiches every day, and dinner every Sunday. Opening times for early and late season: 1. May-20. June --> 10:00-17:00 from Monday to Sunday 26. August-30. September --> 10:00 -17:00 from Monday to Sunday
Tunsbergdalsbreen Glacier is the longest glacier arm in Norway. It is situated 500 m.a.s.l, in Leirdalen, a side vally of Jostadalen vally. Tunsbergsdalsbreen has untill now been almost impossible to visit, because of its remote location in Jostedalsbreen Glacier National Park. You can now visit this glacier arm together with professional guides.
