This monument is just in front of Saint Giovanni del Laterano Basilica, so if you are visiting the Basilica and have some time, all you have to do is cross the big square and you'll see the statue. It's a very powerful statue, that says more than any plaque could.

This is the world's tallest as well as the oldest Egyptian obelisk in Rome and it stands in Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano. It was originally at the Temple of Amun-Re in Thebes and brought back to Rome from the Valley of the Nile. Covered in hieroglyphics, it stands majestic in the square.
