Finally a fantastic, authentic and pleasant Mexican restaurant in downtown Davis. I can't say enough about this place, so here it goes. First off; how do you tell a Mexican restaurant is good? When Mexicans eat there. With that said, their pastor meat was full of flavor and crispy. They have Negro Modelo on tap! Great salsa and condiment bar. Taco salad looked awesome. I'll keep coming back. Well worth it.

I like the flavors here and options for brown or white rice (cilantro rice fyi...some of my friends are not fans). I particularly like the bowl option with chicken which has a nice grilled flavor. Best lime-chips and guacamole in town. Exceptionally fast-line service for a lunch hour option.

This restaurant has been around since I was going to UC Davis over 20 years ago. I still have friends that stop at this place on the way up to Lake Tahoe from the Bay Area. Food is above average, definitely better than Chevy's. Atmosphere can be loud, but as long as you're fine with that, it's good. They do have some outside seating. This establishment is part of the City of Davis. If you are in Davis and you want Mexican food and want a taste of the student life/experience, you should definitely stop by. It's within a shopping center that isn't too far away from the freeway, so it's not hard to get to.

Stopped for a quick bite with my daughter before the UC Davis Acapella show last week. Was good and fast service, though there were not many people in the place. I ordered the Enchiladas that came with a green (spicy) rice. Enchiladas were good but very greasy (must be low grade cheese used) and the rice was not something I enjoyed but my daughter did. Workers seemed bored and 3 of them were standing around laughing by the front glass doors; not professional in the least bit. Would I go back...probably not.

We've eaten here before, but last night was a big let-down. Getting water took quite a while, but the guacamole and chips arrived quickly. Even then we didn't have time to enjoy them with our margaritas before the first courses arrived, and before we had finished those the main courses arrived--all but one, which took ten minutes longer. Our two orders of taco salads with steak came instead as soft tacos with steak, and the server wanted to argue about the mistake. We finally gave up and took the soft tacos. Everything was rushed, even though there were tables available inside. To add to it all, when we arrived home and had time to look at the bill we discovered that we must have been given someone else's, as the amount was at least a third more than it should have been. I've written to the manager about it.

This is a good place to have a meal, spend a bit of time writing after you dine, stop for coffee or other libations...The staff is friendly and the service is good. Basic, healthy Mexican food and libations. I enjoyed the wide open layout of the venue. Some folks might find it too Americanized but I actually prefer this type of clean, CA Mexican food. I have enjoyed their soups, salads, enchiladas. It is a consistent and reliable place to go.
