âSharingâ is the central theme at villa bardon. Whether it is a choice of antipasti, our famous dips or oven-roasted vegetables, they are served at your table for you to enjoy with your friends, family or colleagues. We prepare delicious mediterranean food
Mrs M and I hopped along to the Villa Bardon after a lovely canal tour of Ghent, thankful we'd arrived in this conspicuously historical city ahead of a threatened high-decibel music festival. This restaurant is poised comfortably midway between overpriced snooty and poor-choice crummy, its modest-sized menu promising that what they do they do well. We knew in advance that the chef is Belgian and his partner Maltese, the latter one of two waiting tables with admirable efficiency and friendliness. The dinner nicely rounded off a splendid day, and we thanked the proprietors for it. To have declared myself would have been as pompous as unnecessary, as Mrs M discreetly but redundantly reminds me. But the best compliment is a thoughtful review, even though the vortex of sociability into which we Muttonens have since found ourselves caught up has delayed this review beyond my recollection of what we actually ate.

Very close, on walking distance,to the historical center of Ghent, we offer you the best of the delicious Italian cuisine.
Found this place using TA, looked really good. We arrived and they were full (always a good sign) so were told to come back in 15 mins.We were shown to our table and that's where we sat for 30 mins, no menu, no water, no drinks. Our order was eventually taken and we had to wait another 20 mins for just the drinks and bread to turn up. We then waited another 30 mins for food to come out (only arrived after I asked where it was) At no point were we checked on, asked for more drinks ect. We finished our.... food, It wasn't great, it wasn't bad. For the price I expected better in truth. The service really showed its colors when we were asked why we did not finish the wine (there was ligitamiltly a fly in it) she shruged her shoulders and just took it away! no replacement. The service here was terrible, I was made to feel like we had inconvenienced her simply by being there. In short, Id recommend against this place, perhaps we got it on a bad day but as it was to celebrate an anniversary it put a cloud over the evening. If I had the service here I would have just walked out.

The restaurant is small but cosy, staff is very friendly and helpfull. Theres a nice open atmosphere which gives you good feeling, like a family feeling. Waiting times are ok. Drinks come fast, get a bite while waiting, starter was excellent and maindish was very nice, tasty and fresh. You pay for what you get and it was worth it. Place to go back one day.

A lovely tapas bar in the heart of Ghent with a seasonal menu and delicious, honest food. The menu includes homemade tapas, wines originating from the Canary Islands and a wide selection of vegetarian dishes.
Had a craving for tapas and found this gem.It was early evening and we didn't have a reservation, but they had a couple of small tables in the outside back. It was actually nicer for conversation. The spicy sausage one comes on a small skewer and they light a small dish of alcohol to cook it (you cook it) unfortunately I was not very skilled and ended up asking for more alcohol to do it. Even then, it was probably not properly cooked. I would avoid that one. But the rest of the tapas were extraordinary.

We had a nice lunch here starting with the borek (pastry) and calamari and then the grilled merguez sausage which had real flavor. Good food. Good service.

Located in the heart of Gent (Patershol)
This small cosy Italian restaurant is well worth a visit. The food was authentic and absolutely delicious, although the menu is not extensive. My vitello tonnato couldnât have been tastier and the orichette with asparagus was as good as anything you will find in Italy. The service was charming and friendly. A great place for an enjoyable evening.

We really liked this place and the owner. Nice atmosphere.Limited wine choice, but what we were offered was good, and good value. We had starters and a pasta main. We were just a little underwhelmed by the pasta sauce, and the owner was disappointed to see half-eaten plates. We would definitely try this again if ever in Ghent.

We chose this restaurant purely because it looked really nice, with a decent menu, as we walked by! It turned out to be a good choice - the ambiance, food & service were all excellent & at a decent price. We sat in the open courtyard at the back, so could enjoy the summer's evening whilst we ate. It's slightly off the tourist route, but well worth looking for.

Located in the heart of Ghent, Otium is the place to be for fine Italian dining while immersed in a great atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, you're welcomed by the lovely staff who will go above and beyond to deliver you the best culinary experience when exploring the wide variety of Italian food, downtown Ghent. Next to the fixed menu staples such as the 'amatriciana estiva' or 'costelle di agnello', Otium serves new suggestions every day, combining the freshest ingredients to deliver an explosion of flavors on your plate. The restaurant offers a range of good wines to pair with each dish, and you don't need to hesitate to ask any recommendations in case you're in doubt: they're always on point. Otium is my go-to Italian restaurant for any occasion, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a night of great conversations and accompanying food.
