Gilberto and Max of Discovery Tours provided the day trip of a lifetime to Anzio where I followed in my father's footsteps to see where he served his country in World War 2. Discovery Tours handled all the logistics, trip planning and detailed information on the battle sites and Anzio campaign with consummate professionalism. I learned much and thanks to Gilberto and Max, have a much deeper and personal understanding of the challenges my father and all other servicemen and women faced during this critical time in history. I enthusiastically recommend Discovery Tours to enrich your travel experience in the wonderful country of Italy.

The building of the Royal Palace has started in the 1752, when Charles the VII of Naples - also known as King Charles III of Spain - commissioned the work to the famous architect Luigi Vanvitalli, who was influenced and inspired by the royal residence in Versailles. Follow your guide into the courtyard, climb the majestic Grand Staircase of Honour and enter the rooms of the largest royal palace in Europe. The Throne Room will enchant you, with its golden stucco tinsels and decorations. The small theatre will leave you breathless. Last but not the least, enjoy a pleasant walk into the garden, and follow the path up to the Diana and Actaeon Fountain, only few steps away from the Grand Cascade. Your guide will lead you in this journey through the centuries, and feel free to ask curiosities and questions.

My husband and I visited Pompeii with tour guide Lello (an archaeologist). We have been on a lot of tours all over the world and can honestly say Lello was the best guide we have ever had. He is very knowledgeable, attentive and (to top it off) hilarious! Pompeii itself was amazing. I would definitely recommend going with a guide to ensure you get the most out of the experience. Before the tour all communications with Giulia from the company were efficient and friendly. Lello also drove us from Naples to Positano and the van was new, spacious and comfortable. When we were hungry Lello directed us to a lovely café which offered freshly made sandwiches, coffee and other drinks.
"The Park's Garden are wonderful, they are in perfect harmony with a flap of land which is all a garden", so narred Goethe in 1787. If you so desire to be enchanted by the beauty of the XVIII century Borboni royal palace, from its interior to the magnificence of the italian park and english garden, do not miss this unique opportunity. With its five floors, equipped with 1200 rooms, 34 stairs and 1742 windows, the royal palace is the largest in the world, noted in 1997 on Unesco's World Heritage List. The palace opera architect Luigi Vanvitelli, (son of a very important painter of Gaspar Van Wittel sites, already active in Rome under Benedict XIV in restoring th St. Peter's Dome), infact, can be considered to all as an ideal and original fusion of two other royal residence: the royal palace of Versailles of the king of France and the palace of Escorial Madrid, residence of the king of Spain.

What a great day we had with Paolo...from the prompt pickup, to the comfortable vehicle, to the very considerate and well thought out stops along the way. This excursion was the highlight of our stay in Italy and provided a much needed respite from the hustle and bustle of staying in Rome. Our first stop in Pompei was enjoyable and well guided thanks to our tour guide Eugene. We saw and learned a lot in the approximately 2 hours we spent roaming the ancient city. On to the Amalfi coast, we stopped to sample limoncello (and chocolates!) and even toured the facility where this refreshing and delicious, citrus tickle for your tastebuds is created. Paolo was kind enough to call ahead and reserve a table for lunch at Calajanara with spectacular views. Finally we stopped in Positano for gelato before heading home. Paolo provided just the right amount of information and quiet to allow us to nap comfortably on the long ride home. We all enjoyed the trip (teens and parents) and would not hesitate to book another excursion with Paolo in the future!

We can't adequately express how great it was to work with this company. They picked us up from the train station, took us on tours of the Amalfi Coast and Napoli and provided transportation back to the train station at the end of our stay. Over the course of four days we were treated to the best of southern Italy. Ricardo was an amazing tour guide and went out of his way to make sure we saw the best of Napoli and the Amalfi Coast. Ricardo's restaurant recommendations are the best. The cars are clean and the drivers are very safe and professional. We highly recommend them and we look forward to riding with them on our next trip to Napoli. D. Vessey Phoenix, Arizona USA
The UNESCO World Heritage listed Royal Palace of Caserta started out as a royal boasting contest. King Charles VII of Bourbon wanted a palace to outshine the Palace of Versailles, so in 1752 he initiated the construction of the largest royal residence in the world. King Charles of Bourbon introduced reforms and kick-started the economy with hectic building activity. His most ambitious project was a palace to rival Versailles, and he commissioned the Neapolitan architect Luigi Vanvitelli with the job. Vanvitelli went for bigger is better. He designed a palace larger than any other royal palace in the world. The proportions are stunning. Walking to the 250m long facade can make anyone feel tiny and insignificant. And there are 1790 windows and 1200 rooms to underline this impression. King Charles night at the palace. He went on to become king of Spain, while Vanvitelli died before the structure was completed, leaving it to his son to finish the project.

We wished we could see Pope Francis but we could never expected we could see him so closely thanks to Rossana great effort. Rossana and our driver Luigi are both great persons and the visit to the Pope very well organized. They both were professional, supportive, engaging and very helpful. Rossana took really a great effort to make the visit tailored to our needs and she had great sense of humour. Big thanks to R and L. We would highly recommend this tour.

Giuseppe Sanmartino,a young Napolitan artist made a "life-sized marble statue, representing Our Lord Jesus Christ dead, and covered in a transparent shroud carved from the same block as the statue".
