Ordered this through the new "Skip the dishes" app and I must say the food arrived exactly on time as promised. The sushi was fresh and the rolls were well filled. We tried a few different rolls alongwith the sashimi and every one of them had a nice flair to it. All in all I would not say its the best however it ranks rather high on the ratings. Certainly give it a try.

Since the "boom" in Japanese food (especially sushi) in the late 1980's, there are lots of Japanese restaurants that aren't being run by Japanese. I have an iron-clad rule on ALL ethnic food: A restaurant serving ethnic food should be run by people of THAT ethnicity.Located nearby my accommodation, I spotted this place on a walk in the neighborhood. Checking their rating on TripAdvisor, I quickly decided on this place for dinner. It was my best meal in Vancouver, by far. When I entered I was given a hearty "irasshaimase" (welcome), which immediately confirmed the restaurant was authentically Japanese. This isn't a large restaurant, seating maybe 30 or so. At early dinner time, it was packed. There was no proper "sushi bar", but food preparation is done in view of the patrons. The server assured me that the sashimi was freshly selected everyday, and a combo would be selected by the chef on this basis. Also discovered they were serving Aji, a fish I love. Even the edamame (steamed soybeans) were spectacular - well prepared, served piping hot (from the steamer, not a microwave), and appropriately salted.Portions were generous, and service was swift.Pricing was surprisingly moderate - this meal was HALF the price of a similar meal I had recently in Hawaii. I sought out the owner/chef during my departure, and told him directly of his fine job.

This area of North Burnaby has lots of sushi restaurants, like Lonsdale in North Van., Marine Drive in West Van., Denman in Vancouver itself- that cater to primarily an occidental clientele. We found a parking spot in front of a different sushi place 2 doors away, and were about to go in for lunch when we heard blaring Western pop music emanating from within. So we wandered a few feet over and walked into the much smaller and more subdued atmosphere of Sushi Uomo.Am I glad or what? Yes, you can get the $9.95 nondescript bento, or the 'modern rolls' slathered in avocado or whatever. Pizza sushi? Pleez! But what caught my eye was the little board with specialty items, many of which were overwritten as 'sold out'. But there was Blue Fin Tuna ngiri, ( Maguro) at $4.95. There were giant scallop (Hotate), and the more common Ikura and Uni. How about Monkfish liver? (Ankimo) I had a chopped scallop sushi that was both huge and delicious. The Toro slab overshot the sushi rice like an overloaded logging truck! The service was so/so- the server inattentive to keeping tea filled up or presenting the bill when we were obviously done. But the sushi chefs knew their craft, for sure. So, kudos to Uomo, for setting the bar a bit higher, but still keeping the prices in line.

Great spot for sushi and sashimi. Didn't expect quality from a sushi restaurant in a skytrain station but this place blew me away. They had some less common dishes and some creative mashups. Recommend!

... Better than anyone, anyone I ever met! Okay, I have tried a lot of Ramen places, BIG and small, who I quite enjoyed. But this place maybe beats all. This is because you have a choice of regular size to EX-LARGE SIZE and the EX-LARGE SIZE is pretty big with lots of ramen noodles and meat unlike other places which give you more veggies. More importantly, the chicken soup base was light and unsalty. Still the regular size was quite filling especially the added combo with gyoza. The Yaguchiya ramen special with BBQ pork (Chasu), spinach, leeks, seaweed, and a medium-boiled egg is a special authentic ramen from Yokohama Japan. Not only is it authentic, it was the best I ever tasted! So either get here early or get here late if you want to get a table at this smallish restaurant because be prepared to wait if you get here after 6 pm.

One of the best places in Vancouver serving real Japanese food. It is Japanese owned so that's a plus. Great fresh sushi; sashimi is delicious and the chicken karaage is tasty. Unlike other Japanese restaurants around town they use fresh wasabi. Reasonable prices.

I have visited this restaurant first time in 2010 and the quality hasnât changed ever since (the prices did go up, but I still have this as not-to-miss spot whenever Iâm in Vancouver). The staff is very nice and if it is not too busy, we enjoy sitting at the bar and watching the sushi chef.

We have been going to Sushi Garden for many years and this one on Kingsway, their newest location in Burnaby, is very nice. Very efficient, I never have to wait long for two people and you are in and out fairly quickly. This however doesnât help towards the ambiounce much as you are very close to everyone else on all sides.Sushi is always so fresh and delicious and the presentation is wonderful. I love their sushi! Great noodle bowls too. Yummy!
