I adore the Japanese umami "umami is the hidden taste - fifth taste" and I'm a bit picky on where to eat Japanese, because (I also cook Japanese). In Bahrain, this is "the place" to enjoy it. They also offer superb set-lunch menus at very reasonable prices.I wrote this review with hesitation that I may not find a free seat from now on

Stopped in to have dinner and ordered the Hwae Dup Bap (íë®ë°¥), the Korean version of chirashi. Feel like they give a generous amount of fish and I always like the side dishes (ë°ì°¬) they give here with the meal. One of the challenges I had this time was with the service. While the waitress was good about taking my order and getting my food, it took them over 20 minutes before I could get a check and leave. Got to the point that I had to walk up to the cashier. The other issue I had is the overall atmosphere. I've come to accept the smoking, but the family that had their kids watching videos really annoyed my meal and soured my experience.

The food was exceptional. It was fresh and expertly executed. The service was a attentive and friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant was great to start with, this was until the Karaoke upstairs struck up. Apparently, there was a Christmas party going on plus across the way on the same floor as Imari, there was a Wedding party. There was constant bursts of flash as party photos were being taken outside The Wedding Party area. The two mingling opposing discos resulted in a cacophony of techno noise which quite frankly ruined the ambiance of the eatery. As the bill was a hefty equivalent of £80 for two of us with one glass of wine, we felt somewhat robbed. Perhaps on another day and another part of the year, the experience might be different. Disappointing is our overall rating!

Love everything about this restaurant, have dined several times this year and it's been perfect every time. This time I had the Natak Experience which is a six course set menu for only 16 bd, apart from the quality of every course there is a lot of food so make sure you come here hungry as it's so good you will not want to leave anything. The restaurant also has very good drinks selection, the atmosphere is nice with Saxophonist playing live.To top it all the level of service from Rakesh, Aldi and Karol is equally as first class as the food. Our daughter insists that the butter chicken being so good she wont even look at the menu !

Sato, Japanese restaurant - Gulf Hotel Bahrain. The Gulf Hotel's distinguished Sato restaurant has earned itself a reputation for serving the absolute best in Japanese cuisine led by Chef Naotaka. It is favored by guests who are said to love its peaceful
It has been over a year but we finally managed to wait until 7pm to head off for dinner. Sato has always been a favorite, so with Fusions currently closed at the Gulf Hotel, we decided on Japanese. We were seated in a quieter area, as requested--much appreciated as one of our party of three has a hearing impairment. Cocktails came out in a reasonable amount of time, and the Cosmopolitans were quite good. We ordered a variety of things, including the set menu A, with teppanyaki. And that is where it went wrong. The beef, ordered medium, was cool to the touch and medium well to well done. The chicken was also slightly overdone, but the shrimp were rubbery, very overdone or had obviously sat under a heat lamp. What was outstanding, absolutely stellar, was how the manager handled the issue. He offered to replace our meals and we declined, as our dining partner was well on her way into her meal. Additionally, we took it home--except for the rubbery shrimp, as the flavor was good. He offered dessert, which we also declined. Finally, when our bills came, he removed one of the set menus from the bill, a mark of professionalism which will ensure we return to Sato, even if we won't order the teppanyaki shrimp again.Overall, we are rating it average, because for the price, the food should have lived up to the service.Dear kdk1965, Greetings from SATO at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention and Spa.
