Things to do in Polizzi Generosa
This restaurant was located in the hotel in which we were staying. As the hotel was a long distance along poor roads from the nearest town, we decided to eat here. We greatly enjoyed both our dinners at the restaurant. Service was helpful, the food was delicious and featured local ingredients. The chef showed flair by producing interesting and innovative food.
We've been driving through Polizzi Generosa a couple of times during the day always wondering where this Pizzeria might be for which a sign is pointing seemingly to nowhere.Turned out a fully-fledged pizzeria and restaurant is hidden behind what looks like a garage door during daytime. It's only open in the evening. Since the other nice restaurant in town, the ITRA was closed due to vacation we've been to this pizzeria once. The staff was really nice and helpful. They didn't fully understand English but we managed to communicate what was needed to get through our dinner. We've had surprisingly good wine and in the end we also good some Limoncello on the house.Well worth a visit!

Stayed here for 2 weeks while touring Sicily with my family. The ambience was awesome. The views were spectacular. The food was incredible. The pool was enormous and cleaned constantly. The water was clean. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. . The staff and owners were exceptional, nice, and friendly. I felt like I was home.

Consigliato.
we stopped for a glass of wine, a cup of coffee, and to try some sicilian pasteries. It was delicious and so worth while. The pastries are delicious!

Like many travelers during year 2015, we also went in Polizzi because diverted there because of the interruption of the Palermo-Catania motorway; we were directed to this restaurant - otherwise very little visible even to those who pass nearby - on the recommendation of a local of the town. The indication was important: we ate great food, at the right price. It's worth noting the excellence of all the dishes we ordered. As first course, a kind of spaghetti with cheese and spicy sausage; and ravioli stuffed with ricotta and mushrooms, into a sauce of mushrooms too. As main courses, lamb chops and a wonderful boar (so-called "black") stew. Finally, for dessert, a very good and typical "cannoli" Sicilian sweet, and an ice cream and chocolate semifreddo. It's however to remember that some desserts were not available, even among the most famous specialties of the restaurant: the ice cream hazelnut semifreddo (hazelnuts are a typical Polizzi production) and the so-called "sfoglio" (cake stuffed with unsalted cheese, chocolate and cinnamon).Bill proportionate to what we consumed, not particularly low compared to the usual bills in inland Sicily (which are particularly low): 68 euros for three first courses, two main dishes, three desserts, two water bottles and a small beer. Restaurant pleasant and recommendable.

In the heart of the Madonie National Park, Polizzi Generosa is a small village with a glorious history. At the highest point of the village (917 m.s.l.m.) stood the Castle extended by Roger II. Our accommodation is located inside the Notarbartolo Palace (
A rainy lunchtime in Polizzi Generosa. âQuick, letâs find somewhere for lunch.â As luck had it, we stumbled upon I Templari. Only a couple of elderly gentlemen enjoying lunch together, the chef/patron and us! Chef/patron was charming, welcoming and very happy to translate hisMenu for us (usual linguistically challenged English couple) and, having done so, cooked us two delicious pasta dishes.... very reasonably priced and tasty. Highly recommended; he deserves your business!

Donna Lavia, just below the town of Polizzi Generosa, which can be seen above on its precipitous ridge, is a little off the beaten track, down a fairly steep, narrow road -- but it is well worth visiting, either for its comfortable rooms or to sample its excellent food. This lovely, stone-built agritourismo is owned and run by Sicilian local, Luigi and his German wife -- and between them they speak about 5 languages, including English. Luigi is a great host and is happy to talk you through his fairly short menu -- just go with the flow, you won't be disappointed. The main event for me is always the antipasti, which is an endless array of delicious roasted vegetables, caponata, cheeses, local meats and an array of things like deep-fried courgette (zucchini) flowers and other wonders. In fact this is a perfect place for vegetarians to indulge themselves, but meat eaters won't disappointed with his main dishes, such as local lamb or pork, simply roasted with an excellent accompanying sauce. There are also a number of excellent pasta dishes available. Everything is locally sourced and excellently cooked -- and even his wines by the carafe are very palatable (although he has a selection of Sicilian wines by the bottle too). The ambience is lovely, particularly in the summer when you can dine out under a beatiful stone-built colonnade with a fountain at the centre -- and when the bill comes, you will be amazed. It is very difficult to exceed 25 Euros per person, even with wine and all the trimmings. This is Sicilian hospitality at its best.

We enjoyed our meal here, but given the rave reviews I was expecting something really outstanding. The food was all very nice, and the servings were generous. But it wasn't significantly better than other simple restaurants we've been to. Sadly, from the list of about 8 delicious sounding desserts, only two were available. Admittedly, we arrived around 2.00 for lunch and the restaurant closes at 2.45, but by the time we left at just after 3.00 we got the feeling the owners were keen to close up. It's quite a large restaurant and quite formally laid out, so with just a few diners in for lunch it felt rather stuffy, but this would probably change with more customers in the evening. The owners spoke English, luckily, and were able to explain the menu to us. Prices were very reasonable for the good quality food.
