Anybody who appreciates real pizza will love this place. Buffalo Mozzarella, D. O. C. Margerita, a proper woodfired oven, nothing on the menu except Pizza, a few appetizer plates, gelato, and the best home-made Limoncello I have ever tasted. All in a traditional wooden Japanese house in the heart of ancient Kanazawa. Sounds mental, but it is all absolutely perfect. Best pizza I've eaten anywhere (and I eat a lot, everwhere I go), great service, house-wine and surreal location. Only thing missing is Anchovies. A word of warning - this is real pizza, not the kind that comes in slices, and just like in Napoli, it's soggy in the middle, the tomato sauce soaking into the dough. Crispy and bubbly round the edges, but with the wonderful bready, tomato, cheese mush in the middle that is Real Pizza. If you know what Pizza Vera is, you'll love this place.

Italian, cafe
Having just gotten off the train, heading towards the pretty tea house area we thought we'd better stop for a spot of lunch near the market. We had fancied a change from traditional Japanese cuisine but regretted our choice as the food here is very average and expensive. The only positive is the service was friendly and staff were attentive.

Called in for a Martini after getting some noodles nearby and after reading their menu decided to come back the next night for drinks and dinner. Fantastic...great atmosphere, good value cocktails of great quality and the food was simple but delicious. I wish I had this near my home...all the staff were very helpful and happy, just go and chill out but pace yourself as you can end up drinking way too much....thanks Bambi.

The restaurant is located in the station building, and I went in not knowing this is from Kagaya that is one of the most popular hotels in Japan. The signature lunch was excellent and resonalble (2000y) considering the value. I will go there again when I visit Kanazawa.

Ate here twice (dinner and breakfast) as part of the meals included in a tour. There are multiple stations for cold salads, rice, miso, congee, pasta, other entrees, vegetables, Japanese items, juices, pastries, breads and desserts. There is a carving station with freshly cut beef at night and ham in the morning, as well as chicken. At night, there was a push cart on which they freshly prepared sautéed fish; this was excellent, but only available for limited time periods twice when the pushcart was deployed.

HUNI is a modern izakaya restaurant. The restaurant has open kitchen with counter seats and couch and tatami room and Buddhist art space upstairs. We hope you stay relaxing at home in the riverside restaurant! (art-info: takuohasegawa.com)
We learned about this place by referral from a coffee place we visited (Curio), and it turned out to be a great find. Itâs right on the canal, and, if you sit at the bar/counter, you look out over the river. Only one person working when we arrived early, but he happily made us cocktails and lots of small plates of tasty food that we shared. Japanese food but with some modern takes.

After 2 weeks of fish and rice we decided to come to The Cottage for lunch. It's a small cozy place, so you should probaply reserve seats if you visit for dinner. Momo was a great host and Tony makes a fabolous pizza and a good apple crumble. Please note that we could only choose from 2 mains for lunch, so dont expect a 5 page long menu.

We open Lunch on Saturday,Sunday and Holiday. Lunch time 11 pm to 15 pm Last order 14:30. Our restaurant no smoking outside are available. Credit card are available. English Menu,English speaking stuff are available.
The margherita pizza baked in their open pizza oven was great - wine selection was good too and espresso excellent. The pastas all sound appetizing, but we would not recommend - itâs customized to local taste buds, as far as Kanazawa is to Rome. Stick to the pizzas and you wonât be disappointed. The restaurant has a cosy casual atmosphere and is good for families.
