Chowder wasn't very creamy, then got same chowder sauce in my seafood pasta main, again not creamy, as said on menu. It was weird texture... Was very let down & got it hard to eat same sauce for both courses understandably I think... Partners steak was overcooked & he was given wrong sauce, so defunately wouldn't recommend & I wouldn't go back. The service was excellent do, pity!Dear Ann MarieThank you for your recent review. I do apologise for your experience here with us. As you can see from our other reviews, this seems to be totally out of character for us and thus I would love to speak with you. Could you possibly call us or email us as we would really like to communicate with you.Kind regardsClaire

Some years back, Nancyâs chowder won prizes and it is easy to see why. The chowder is full of fish and well-flavoured, a generous portion too. I had a prawn sandwich as well - the sauce was full of tasty and fresh prawns. The atmosphere here is relaxed in a traditional Irish bar by the bridge in Ardara. An overall good experience.

I had a group of 7 friends visiting from around Ireland. I called Nancys on the Friday to reserve a table for the seven of us. I knew it was a small bar and seating 7 at a table may be a challenge. I was told on the phone that they don't do reservations. There website mentions bookings for groups or party's. With 7 people I considered us a group given the size of the venue but their website doesn't give an exact number. The lady said to come early to get a table. I was disappointed but tried to be optimistic we'd get a table. After a day touring Glencolmcille we arrived in Nancy's at 7pm. The place was pretty crammed! There wasn't anyone on the floor to seat customs or ask about a table. I went to the bar and asked if there was tables. They said no a big group were in already and all other tables taken. There were 5 people ahead waiting on tables to free up. They suggested we could wait a half hour and maybe they would have something but they could not guarantee it. There wasn't room free to even enjoy a drink comformbly whilst we wait. I did tell the waiter that it was very disappointing to drive to Nancy's specifically and get turned away even when we had tried to make a reservation. The waitress didn't care at all. I most say I was very embarrassed and let down by Nancy's as were my group of friends. In the many places I have travelled I never have been refused a reservation and then to wait around with only the slightest potential of getting a table.I brought my friends to the Highland Hotel Glenties. I did not have a reservation. We got a lovely big table. The service was very professional and efficient and the food perfection. Nancy's should really just be a bar because from what I've read on this they don't seem to have a clue when it come to dining or service!Safe to say I won't be recommending it, my parents are local and have mentioned the times they were there many options on the menu were not available.

This is a family friendly restaurant that specialises in decadent homemade desserts and delicious Dinners, Everything is freshly made on the premises daily using locally sources ingredients.
This cafe does amazing Irish breakfasts with freshly made Irish bread. definitely worth a stop if visiting Ardara.
Called in planning to have a meal. Place was quiet with, perhaps 6/7 customers. A couple with 2 children went in directly in front of us & were immediately seated. We were left standing at the door while (at least) 4 staff avoided eye contact, didn't aknowledge us or offer a menu. We left & went to the hotel (Highlands) across the road where we had a lovely meal & great service.Very disappointed in the complete lack of professionalism in The Thatch.
We provide traditional Turkish Kebabs, steak dishes and Vegetarian cuisine to the highest quality standard. All of our ingredients are 100% fresh and locally sourced. We do not compromise on quality.
Had to try this place since I did a good few years earlier and it was good. Had the curry it was nice but needed to be a bit hotter (temperature wise) the rice was cooked to perfection but the chips weren't very nice all in al it was good for the price they could do with getting better chips though. Would be willing to give it another try in the future the staff were friendly and attentive.

We didnât like the menu much. Only one vegetarian dish and a lot of black pudding involved elsewhere. The fish and chips were fine. Puddings looked ok but were poor . Brownie was just a piece of chocolate sponge cake and sticky toffee pudding was also just cake. Service was by young staff who were nice enough but would benefit from some proper training.

Visited this evening as Iâd heard a lot of great reports about the food.Iâd seen the bar had been refurbished both on the outside and inside, yet they look to move away from being a bar/pub and focusing on the food side only, which is plain to see with dinner tables throughout, I had Risotto special to start, nice but lacked a clean finished taste, I had the Seabass special and my wife had the pasta for mains.Pasta was huge and would feed 2 people, I got 2 full sides of Seabass, which is unusual, the smoked salmon risotto that was with it wasnât great, too much ingredients, you lose any flavor in it and the fish, Had to ask for lemon, which really added to the fish, which on its own was very nice.Other dishes I seen looked very tempting, so it may have just been the specials I ordered.Service was nice and attentive, pricing was good.I would recommend going to see yourself, I would go back, just to see the other options they have to taste.
