We stayed in one of the Lodges last Saturday night (Storm Deirdre). Despite it only being a short walk to the Castle from the Lodges, it was pouring down and the wind was howling, so we would have been drenched by the time was got there. We had been advised at check in to ring reception when we were ready for dinner and they would send a car â which they did. Howâs that for service? This restaurant is just fabulous, with its gorgeous Gothic-arched doors, beautiful plasterwork ceiling and old paintings. We opted for the 5-course menu for â¬35.50, which is excellent value. Regardless of which starter you choose, soup is included on it, so make sure you are good and hungry when you turn up. For starters we chose Caesar Salad and Deep Fried Brie, followed by Carrot and Ginger soup. We then had Char-grilled Supreme of Irish Chicken and Medallions of Irish Angus Fillet Beef for mains, Cinnamon Crème Brulee and Cabra Castle Ice Cream Slice for dessert, followed by two coffees. The food was just exquisite, there was nothing we could find fault with. It was beautifully cooked and presented, and our server Louise was absolutely charming and had a great sense of humour; we had such fun with her. It had stopped raining by the time we were finished our meal, and we quite enjoyed the stroll back to our room. A gorgeous meal in a beautiful castle restaurant, good company and great staff â you canât ask for more.I'm delighted you enjoyed your experience with us, despite the adverse weather. We are only too happy to facilitate our guests with a lift to and from their rooms if the weather is poor, mobility is an issue or even if its just a case of having one to many!I will certainly ensure to pass your commendations to all concerned and hope that you will return to us again in the future. The outdoor patio has been totally renovated earlier this year making our Derby Bar / terrace patio the ideal setting to sit our and relax on a summers/ fine Autumn evening.

Supermac's restaurant in Carrickmacross is on Main Street in the town centre. Supermac's fast food restaurant opens daily, is fully seated and free WiFi is available on site. Parking is also available close to the restaurant.
Manager/owner extremely rude very patronising. Was intending to order food as I am a regular visitor to other supermac restaurants but when I asked if it would be possible to get food delivered I was very rudely turned down. This immediately made me feel belittled so much so that I would rather go without. No experience with food/hygiene or other staff just want to let you all know he is a very rude man and should not be in that position of authority.Hi Caoimhe, We are sorry to read of your experience. Your review will be used to liaise with the store manager. We can be reached at [email protected] if you wish to share the time and date of your visit. Kind Regards, Supermac's Online Team

Visited for lunch on sunday with the grandchildren.Nice bar with large table for eating.Had the southern fried chicken with pepper sauce, potatoes and veg and it was delicious.Unfortunately after taking the children's order which was fish fingers for two of them the girl came back to tell us there were no fish fingers. They enjoyed the ice cream and jelly. The ladies toilet was very poor, badly needs an upgrade which would put me off going here again.

It is very comfortable, the service is top class but I found it expensive , a glass of white wine and a pint of Guinness came to Euro 12.47 which I think was a bit on the dear side even for a nice place like this. Didn't eat but the menu looked fairly good.

We had lunch here recently, fish and chips and a beef dish. Quality was not great, both dishes were not worth the money, the fish was overcooked, the beef dish was bland and not very tasty. Both dishes cost around â¬19, way too much. The service was very good, attentive, friendly staff who made up for a lot of the disappointing food.

The Courthouse restaurant is located at the junction of Monaghan Street and Main Street in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan. The menu here is varied and interesting with a good choice of starters, main courses and deserts. The emphasis is more on flavour and quality than volume whilst using a continental flare with local and Irish ingredients. The courtesy and professionalism of the staff, who have been with the Courthouse for a long time, coupled with superb food and a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere make for a great restaurant experience. This establishment is highly recommended.
