My companion and I stopped in for a first class meal on one of our last nights in Melaque. We were not disappointed. We started with a bottle of full bodied red which we sipped as we listened to the great Mexican music. I ordered the lightly seared tuna and he ordered the bacon wrapped filet. Well, what a show and what great flavours. I would highly recommend this restaurant for that special night out.

We visited Roosters because we read in a review that if you asked they adapted dishes for vegetarians but were a bit disappointed. The only choice was the Sopa Atzteca and we were not offered any alternative by the not-too friendly waitress. That said, the soup was very nice, but the only thing on the menu we could eat.

Ate here once during our week in Melaque. The food was good, not outstanding but solid. The location is nice and the service was pretty good as well. Not sure I would rank this as the best restaurant we ate at in Melaque but it was pretty good.

Trip Advisor has this listing, with the most recent review dated 2013, for restaurant Sambuca in Barra de Navidad. There is a new restaurant Sambuca, at a different location in Barra, across the street from Sea Master restaurant. We sat on the upper patio/deck to enjoy the colours of the sunset and were not disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed a dinner at the new Sambuca. We had two shrimp dishes: the shrimp tequila sauce served with rice and vegetables and the fetuccine with grilled shrimps. See photos of both. The food was delicious. Service was slightly confused with more than one waiter thinking they were responsible for our table. One suggestion: get some clips to secure the table cloths in the offshore breeze. Overall a very satisfying dining experience. Barra is blessed with several very good restaurants and Sambuca joins this circle. Es tan bueno!
The place is definitely a local gathering hole, I came in lost having lost my way, ordered a beer, and was more than a bit frazzled. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful, and the atmosphere is definitely charming and homey.

We had a group of eight for a Sunday evening when there was live music. Very pleasant open-air setting, with the pool and the plants all around and appropriate lighting. The live music was reasonably entertaining, with a good guitarist doing a variety of standards and a vocalist performing adequate schmaltzy stuff. There's an open salad bar (a bit of nostalgia for those who remember open salad bars) with a good selection of items, including a pretty nice potato salad. The salad bar's a good idea, because the entrees took a looong time to arrive. The first reason for this is a small kitchen which can't keep up with a packed house. The place was also understaffed for the number of patrons this particular night, so the servers as well as the cooks were basically running off their feet. When the food arrived, it was very good. Everyone at our table was very happy with their meal (the ribs were a particular hit). For us, it was a positive experience. We'd be happy to return, but on a night with live music, I'd be prepared for delays.

4 of us for dinner-all of us felt the same about our experience. We sat on the balcony overlooking the water which was very pleasant. Excellent service. Meals: Garlic shrimp; red snapper; veal wienerschnitzel all were superb with beautiful presentation. Had flan for dessert also very tasty. Would highly recommend this restaurant for an evening meal.

I've eaten here only once (so far), but it was a memorable experience -- wonderful garden setting, soft music, and very good food & service. Marlena, the friendly owner -- originally from Munich, Germany -- personally supervises everything, to make sure that your evening is perfect. I strongly recommend this fine restaurant, which has been a Barra de Navidad standout for years.

Come experience patio dining at our restaurant overlooking our outdoor palm garden with fire pit while being surrounded by works of art under a starry sky. The menu changes daily as we post it weekly on our website. We also offer a Tequila Lounge featurin
All I can say is that previous reviews are right on. This is a unique experience in Barra de Navidad, serving up excelllent food, charming service, an informative and extensive tequila experience, and the all-important marshmallow toasting.I should underscore that the food here is consistently good, something that is unusual in this area. Most other restaurants might offer good fare on a given night, but it's hit and miss most of the time. Barra Galeria is one of three where you can be reasonably confident of getting a good dining experience (Marlena's and Simona's are the others).
