Welcome to the world of Khushma Cottage ; a place where food doesn't just taste delicious, it's also fresh and nutritious -food to tease the senses and stir the soul. We are the first takeaway in Hitchin established in 1992 and thanks for your love and su
We live local but have never tried this restaurant. On a friends advice we took some friends there with reasonably high expectations. We were seated at 7pm - its a tiny room (more like someones living room) but warm and cosy - could do with a revamp if i'm honest. So many restaurants in the area to choose from that the competition is high.We ordered fairly quickly and our poppadoms and drinks arrived reasonably quickly. What I should mention is that there were many people coming in and out collecting take away's. By 20.15 our food had not arrived. We have already chased it up once and was given the 'really sorry were busy speech' in my mind - stop taking takeaway order's and serve the three tables that have been waiting over an hour.. it fell on deaf ears... 15 minutes later our food arrived. To be fair it was piping hot and delicious but by this time to hunger had gone off me at 20.40 when the food finally met my mouth. All in all- great food - terrible service and the chap did not seem to care. He offered us no discount or free drink either as a good will gesture. I get they are a small business and Saturday is a key money making day for them but you don't leave seated customers waiting that long - our bill was over £150 (4 adults 4 children) who were tired bunnies by the time the meal was over.. We paid and left and will not return... Disappointed is an understatement.Hi Gazoolie thank you for your feedback. with regard to the decor, we have future plan to revamp over the coming months. I am so sorry to hear that we could not meet your expectations, as we value our new customers. Unfortunately one of our team member was unexpectedly off sick which caused a delay in the kitchen. However I don't want to make an excuse for the poor service u received and appreciate your honest review. Most of our customers are from word of mouth or recommended by friends and family.I would very much like you to try Khushma Cottage again as we pride ourselves in providing good customer service and quality food for the past 25 years .Please ask for Abu (manager) if you wish to try us again. Many thanks

We started using this takeaway after finding hair in our meal at another local establishment.. we are yet to have a bad meal from Curry Hut. The food is always freshly cooked and (heat) hot on delivery. The staff are friendly and polite and I recommend this place to all my local friends. Also a bonus we can pay on card over the phone for delivery too. The vindaloo, madras, korma are all delicious as are the side dishes!

Dropped in here on a Sunday night about 10.00pm for a meal after meeting family at Lutn Airport. A few lads (mature) were celebrating and a little noisy, but soon left and we were by ourselves. The food was good and served propmptly. The staff were very friendly and helpful and didn't mind us staying till nearly midnight. We would go again. King Prawns and chicken dishes were very good.

Last night my family ordered over £100 worth of curry at this seemingly very nice looking restaurant. Iâve eaten there before a few years ago (5 years ago!) and the food was delicious. Unfortunately we had a take away and this time it was horrible. The food was swimming in oil and some of the many dishes ordered were bright pink - a colour I didnât think looked fresh and natural for a tikka masala. I ordered tandoori chicken which was so revolting and again swimming in oil I had to throw it away. To top it off my daughter was ill ( throwing up) the following morning. She had eaten a Shoshana kebab. This begs the question: how clean is their kitchen? How fresh is their food? They seem nice folk there and their refurbishment looks good but it now explains a few things to me why they are no longer busy and every time I pass their window itâs almost empty. My advice? Get a new ( hygienic) chef!

We needed a last minute meal with new guests who arrived unexpectedly, both American and Indian, and they knew their stuff. They were genuinely surprised, and complimentary on the quality and authenticity of the food. We have always used the Curry Kitchen, but it was good to have it validated like that. I always order and pick up take-outs myself, as I tend not to trust delivered food so much just because it can be hanging around in a moped or whatever. One tip is to add to the meal by going to the Nisa store on Dacre Road Hitchin - a selection of pappads, pickles and desserts to make your mouth water!.

Visited last weekend with friends and had a delightful meal. Well cooked and presented, very tasty and very reasonable. The restaurant was busy with both diners and take away services but we had excellent service and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Came here with my friend last night (Wednesday 27th) it was pretty quiet with only a few tables in. I've never eaten here before, but heard such good things! The restaurant is a lot bigger than what it looks. We had 1 main and 1 rice each, shared a naan and had a drink each and the bill was just over £14 each! Really good value for what we had and we definitely left full. Curry's were creamy and rich. Would definitely come again! - They have a special offer on Tuesdays where you get a starter, main, side, and rice for £13 (I think!) Worth a try!

This is luxurious Indian restaurant where the flavor inebriates you. Please visit us and experience the good taste of food.
We have lived in Hitchin for 20 years and tried many curry houses in the area over the years and this place tonight is by far the best food, good service and reasonable price. We often go to a place in London kingcross which does street food Indian style called Dishoom this is on par with them.It wasnât very busy for a Friday night but it will be if it carries on serving good food like this.£44 with drinks for two was reasonable I thought Keep it up guys Barry
