Picture yourself on the deck of a beautiful cabin, pondering the serenity of the wilderness. Look for our resident moose or listen to the great horned owl in his favorite lookout tree on top of the hill. Knik River Lodge is remote enough to be true wilderness, yet just one hour by car from Anchorage. Perfectly situated for exploring Southcentral Alaska, we invite you to share our magical part of the world.
I had planned a tour with Knik Glacier Tours and wanted to stay someplace close. I found Knik Lodge and was very pleased. We were a family of 7 and had three cabins. The cabins were very nice. Had a front porch and we could watch the helicopters landing and taking off. Mosquitos were pretty bad. Microwave and refrig. Breakfast was included. It was a basic breakfast but very good. We were traveling just after the state was opening up to tourist. Most places were struggling with being short staffed and not enough guests to have the amenities all up and running. Coin laundry and we used it. This lodge is many miles from any town so you will need to eat at their restaurant. Not lots of variety and was not real impressed with the food. We did do the dog sledding the next day and it was very convenient to walk from our cabin to the lodge and helicopter.

The Pioneer Motel has made some drastic changes. We are lucky to have a Housekeeping staff whose number 1 goal is to provide you with a clean and comfortable room for your stay with us. Our newly remodeled rooms are updated with all the amenities, they have been redone from top to bottom. Each room has new carpet, hard wood floors in the kitchenette areas. The beds have all been replaced with a top quality mattress and bed spring. We also now offer "Kitchen Packs" that come with dishes and utensils, plus we have a wide variety of small appliances for your use while you stay with us. We also have 2 King Cabins, 2 Queen Cabins and 1 Queen Hunting Cabin for those wanting extended stays or a weekend get away. Let you adventure in The Last Frontier include a stay at the Pioneer.
We chose this place based on reviews and price. On our last night in Alaska we choose to stay here instead of Anchorage because the prices were so high in Anchorage. Very nice motel! Our room was huge with a kitchen, two nice chairs and two queen beds. Everything was nice and clean. One thing to be mindful of is there is no AC, so at the time we stayed, it was unusually warm in Alaska, so even with the window open and the fan going, our room was pretty warm. This motel is a great option in Palmer and a nice option about 45 minutes away from Anchorage!

There are 12 rooms available, 10 have Whirlpool tubs and two rooms have showers only. Amenities include cable TV, Free Wi-Fi, mini refrigerators, coffee bar and microwave in upper hall. The Colony Inn is owned by a long time Alaskan who prides herself in keeping Palmer's history alive and relevant. In 1935, the Matanuska Colony project, a part of President Roosevelt’s New Deal program, brought over 200 families from the drought-stricken Midwest to establish a farming community in Palmer. The restored Colony Inn was built as a teacher’s dormitory. Enjoy a sense of American history while you stay at the Colony Inn and explore the wonderful town of Palmer. Conveniently located near Friday Flings (summer), Palmer Public Library, Mat-Su Borough, local restaurants and shops all in walking distance. Reservations are made through the Valley Hotel front desk. Corporate, senior citizen and group rates available. Rooms are $100-$120/night, winter rates discounted.
The colony and is part of a group of at least two hotels, with the Valley Hotel, 3 Watch away being the center. You actually check in at the valley hotel. The colony hotel is not easily handicapped accessible. There are several rooms on the first floor and more on the second floor. There is no elevator. In fact we were both recovering from various surgeries and spending two weeks in Alaska had a good deal of luggage so we had to change our original reservation for four days from the colony hotel to the valley hotel or we could get some help with luggage. On our return we were able to be accommodated in the first floor room in the colony and that worked out very well. The colony is actually a nicer hotel building. Apparently it had a café which is still in the building but does not seem to be operating. The location is excellent, right downtown in a park and close to everything you would want to go home. The hotel is in good condition, it is very clean, appears to be well-maintained and has a very nice living room area on the first floor. Our room was an adequate size, we saw several of the other rooms with large easy chairs, clearly with more space than ours but ours was just fine. The location was good and the price was very good. I would highly recommend this hotel for those reasons. I cannot give it five stars because most of the hotel, the entire second floor is not accessible to wheelchair or handicapped access.

Eagle Hotel Restaurant and Lounge is located in the heart of downtown Palmer! Experience a comfortable and relaxing stay at Eagle Hotel. With room to spread out in, our 28 non-smoking guest rooms have everything for a great night in: cable TV, refrigerator, and free Internet access.
I spent 9 days in Palmer for CDL training with the 1st 2 at another hotel that seemed to have fairly clean rooms even if pretty dated and small until laying down to sleep and the cigarette permeated carpet became a bit much, my fellow students and I were moved to the Eagle Hotel because the previous one was going to have to juggle us around rooms, thought I would miss the 24 hour cafe in that hotel but my room at the eagle was almost twice as large and it was in fact very clean with fairly new wood laminate flooring, nice ceiling fan (the last hotels air unit sounded like a freight train. I really like the fact that they supply you with a microwave, coffeepot, and fridge. The staff are very friendly and eager to please. The new management are doing a fantastic job and the exterior of the building is just about done getting a new paint job at the time of this review. Highly recommended!!

Loved the hot tub and sauna. The kitchen is supplied and has tons of room. The views are fantastic from the upstairs rooms. Far enough to get away and close enough to town for fun. They have an awesome fire pit and activities center for parties.

We stayed for 11 nights during the Christmas holidays for relative visiting and general tourist-ing and had a great stay. The location is in an ultra-quiet neighborhood 2 blocks from downtown Palmer. Suite 12 had an excellent view of a snowy field, mountains and even the decorated Palmer water tower. There is very little traffic on the roads around the units. Palmer is a easy 50 minute drive from downtown Anchorage. Great central location for seeing the sights that is away from the big city. Suite 12 had everything we needed and was clean. No need to post shots since their website had mondo-pictures that were exactly as we received. There was enough kitchen utensils and pans to get us by, including the required pod coffee maker. The unit was clean with new appliances. The living room couch is a sleeper, so a family with kids would fit just fine. For the two of us it was excellent and the master bed was comfy. Both rooms had TV's with a plethora of viewing aps. We appreciated the apt size washer dryer compete with soap since sloshing thru the snow gets you wet. Since there is no maid service it is nice to freshen up the towels or sheets. The only negative is the washer is very noisy and the neighbors woke us up when we were trying to sleep in, one morning. It snowed several times during our stay, and the management kept the walk ways swept, which was appreciated. The units are ‘motel style’ with a roof covering most walkways. The path to our cars and trash was even cleared, which was no easy feat considering the snowfall received. They kept the brooms and shovels out so we could brush off our car easily.

Welcome to Snowgoose Pond B&B, your peaceful farmhouse-style get away! Go out every day and PLAY in Alaska–hike, bike, fish, flight-see, enjoy a good meal with some local salmon. Then come HOME and experience a warm, and inviting retreat to refresh yourself for whatever Alaska has waiting for you tomorrow.
We spent two nights of our Alaska vacation at this B&B and wished that we had decided to use it as a home base for more of our travel time. I will start by noting that the bed was amazing! I am the pickiest bed and pillow person but this bed and bedding were so "yummy" that it was hard to leave it in the mornings. Speaking of yummy, breakfast was excellent. It not only tasted amazing but it looked amazing. Everything about the place gave evidence of thoughtful preparation and a love for hosting. The house is gorgeous, the location is excellent and the owners could not be nicer. Thank you for two wonderful nights.
