Very disappointing and a bad look for the HIlton brand

Reviewed By Z936TTgaryh

I personally back some of the other poor reviews this hotel received. I booked a stay at this location for a weekend getaway with my partner. We were very excited about our stay, and anticipated a relaxing weekend at a Hilton brand hotel. As my fellow Hilton Honors members know, sure there may be little things here and there that don't make our stays 10 out of 10, but we trust Hilton brand hotels to be meet a standard that most other hotels do not. Home2 Suites in Owings Mills, unfortunately, does not meet this standard. In fact, it misses it by a wide margin, and I would venture to say is a stain on the highly regarded Hilton hotel brand. Check in was about what you would expect, the front desk staff was nice enough, the room was equally nice and clean. Little did we know, the highlights of the stay would just about end there. We came back from dinner the first evening to a pile of dirty towels outside of our door. I didn't think much of this until about 24 hours later when they were STILL outside of our door untouched. The first night neither of us slept until about 1AM due to kids running, slamming doors, yelling, playing, and fighting in the FIRST FLOOR HALLWAY. Mind you, our room was no more than 50 yards from the front desk, and it wasn't until we complained about the noise that something was finally done. The rowdiness was well within earshot of the front desk and 'security guard' but neither could seem to be bothered with the comfort of other guests in the hotel, and disregarded the unruly bunch. The next day, with a fresh start in mind, I called the front desk to ask if we could get some light housekeeping scheduled for our room (fresh towels, trash collection, fresh linens) while we left for the day. The website says that they offer housekeeping every 4th day of your stay, or UPON REQUEST. Apparently, "upon request" means nothing, as I was given the runaround about how since we weren't staying for 4 nights, it would not be offered and we would have to go to the front desk to get new towels. That's fine, the trash sat next to the pile of dirty towels that had still been disregarded from the night before. Great look, Home2. I decided to use the fitness center around mid-morning (10:30 AM). The fitness center was nice, there was some newer equipment in there that was in good shape, however the trash was overflowing with food waste, and the towel rack was completely free of clean towels. After my workout, I decided to use the pool to cool down. Same song and dance. 11 AM on a Saturday morning, and it was CLEAR that no staff member had even bothered to glance at the pool deck. Lifeguard equipment lay floating in the pool, obviously out of place, and once again not a clean towel in sight. Frustrating to say the least. We left he hotel for the afternoon, and returned in the evening, said hi to our doorman (the dirty pile of towels) and tried to relax and enjoy our room for the rest of the night. All was well and good until about 10:30 PM when all hell once again broke loose. It was witching hour once again at the Home2 Suites in Owings Mills, and the kids were back in full force this time. Constant slamming of the doors, shouting, running, all once again within 50 yards of the front desk. It must have been quite busy up there, or a very interesting episode of SNL, as they once again could not be bothered to corral the noisy guests. This time we made it a point to go to the lobby and express our dissatisfaction with what was happening. The lobby was crowded, and reeked of smoke, and perhaps thats why our security friend seemed so sedated and reluctant to control the scene at almost 11PM. Honestly, this hotel was a complete and total let down. I will never be back. I encourage all of you reading this to NOT give this hotel your money. Take this review seriously, because the hotel staff here has a serious lack of care in their work. Or at least they did on the weekend of June 4th, 2022. A real shame, and a serious blow to a highly regarded hotel chain.

Breakfast could use a bit of a change from the same sausage to perhaps bacon or ham a couple days. Overall very nice stay and the young man (Arnold) who waited on us when arrived early in the morning did an excellent job getting us situated.

The bed was so hard I thought I was sleeping on wood. I even removed the sheet to make sure there was a mattress. Maid knocked on our door at 10am, when we had late checkout. And the front desk clerk made us checkout twice. Not believing or remembering that we had checked out with her 15 minutes earlier.

Who's sleeping in my bed?

This had to be one of my worst hotel experiences. I checked in via Hilton App at 3pm but my 13 year old son and I did not arrive until after 9pm. Getting off the elevator the entire hallway smells of marijuana. Upon check in to room 404, the room is dirty. In between check in and arrival time, Someone slept in the beds, television is on, remote control out of the plastic and an open coke can and cups is left on the dresser. We are still living through a pandemic. Not only is this unsanitary but it’s unsafe. The associate at the front desk was very nice and he switched our room. (His name is Adefoluso) On Monday morning, my son and I go down for breakfast. He is looking at the food display and the waitress actually told my son that nothing there was free and he had to pay for the food. That comment was not necessary. It’s like she is implying he is going to steal something. It was offensive. Then the cook at the food station was complaining about the people who sent good back and asked to have it done to their liking. This is not how you treat guests. Upon check out, I asked to change payment method and the service rep at the front desk just checked me out. I had to have a manager issue a refund and charge a different card. I was late for an appointment because of this Going forward I don’t believe I would stay at this particular location again and I certainly wouldn’t recommended it to anyone.

My home away from home for a week and really enjoyed it. It was very comfortable. Loved the self-controlled climate control. A guest next door to me had a very noisy party and when I called the front desk they responded immediately and took care of it! Fallon, at the front desk was very friendly and helpful during my stay. Best complimentary breakfast I have had during Covid. Lot of choices to include a breakfast sandwich you could heat in your room. Would have loved to have their famous cinnamon rolls though.
