The staff were very nice and served you really well. The meals were nice but not something spectacular. The room we booked were also spacious. They also have shuttle bus to and from Kurayoshi Station which made access simple. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Poor service and the things you get does not worth the money you paid for. The nightmare started from getting to the hotel. They offered free shuttle bus service from Kurayoshi station, but have to reserve it before arrival. I sent out my request 3 days before through agency website but no reply until I arrived. I tried to call them 2 days before for literally hundred of times, but the line was either unreachable or no one picking up. Both the agency and my previous hotel tried to call them but came back with the same result. So I ended up spending another ¥470 on bus to the hotel. This huge hotel only has 1 receptionist knows how to speak English but not there all the time. Very unprofessional receptionists who do not even know how to process payment with MasterCard. Both the dinner and breakfast experience was awful, the quality of the dinner was bad, can’t believe I paid so much for this half-board stay. Not much food choices during the breakfast buffet, can’t imagine this kind of standard is from a onsen hotel. I was charged ¥150 extra for onsen tax which was not stated neither on my agency website nor check-in form. It’s not much but the feeling of unawareness is sucks.

Izanro Iwasaki is Misasa Onsen's most historic ryokan, having played host to a score of renowned guests, including the royal family and famous poets and artists. Relax and soak away your cares in one of the 12 world-class, radium hot-springs - each with its own distinct character.
Our first time staying at a ryokan, and it was a pleasant stay here. We enjoyed the onsens, wearing yukata, kaiseki (ryokan multi-course dinner) and traditional Japanese breakfast, sleeping on futons, strolling around the hotspring town with its countryside charm... The very same content on Japanese tourism shows! Recommended especially for first timers who may be unsure on which ryokan to choose.

Misasa is a Japanese-style inn is located in the hot springs of the symbol Misasa Bridge sleeve. Deliver the old-fashioned hospitality, at the time of check-in is available to while drinking green tea at the second floor lobby.
We were a group of 5 and we had booked a room with a private onsen. The staff were very attentive. Before we even asked, they brought us a wheelchair given we had an elderly travelling with us. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was great. Portion is normal Japanese size but maybe a little too small for us (we just love eating too much...). The only thing I would say is the person serving us didn't seem to smile a lot like all the other onsen ryokan we had been to, just something I have noticed but not anything I was unhappy about.

I visited there in April and I booked one day in advance and still can reserve a nice non-smoking Japanese room of 10 tsubo (33 sm). Both dinners and breakfast were above average and the price for one person stay was below 10,000 yen (weekdays, not Saturday). The onsen was spacious and since the hotel was not packed, you can enjoy a very relaxing onsen with few people. The town is small but beautiful, a walking tour is highly recommended (less than 1 hour).

I recently spent a night in Misasa, in order to hike up Mitokusan the next day. Staying at Kiya Ryokan was a terrific experience. The owner came to pick me up at Kurayoshi Station (after a call from the friendly and helpful tourist information office staff) and was very welcoming; he was also good about trying to converse with me in English, as I have limited Japanese. The staff was very friendly and the dinner and breakfast very good. They have different onsen ofuros to choose from, and the room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable. The owner also helped me get to Mitokusan from the ryokan (I went in early June, which is the off-season, so it wasn't too crowded), and then back to Kurayoshi when I was departing. I would definitely stay here again, allowing more days for experiencing Misasa--one night/day wasn't enough!

Free advance booking shuttle bus pick up from Kurayoshi JR station. Clean and spacious room. We had buffet dinner and breakfast. The buffet dinner has a very good selection of food. Seafood, Beef Shabu Shabu etc. It's fun you can grill and cook yourself. I must thank you the hotel staff Anna who carefully wrapping and sending back my sunglasses via International Express Service back to HK (I left them in the room after check out.) I would definitely stay again when I visit Misasa and highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Misasa

A hidden Japanese inn of Misasa Onsen that continues to propose Iwayu style. Choice of dishes, rooms, late out, early booking. A well-established hotel for cooking. A sum space that has been inherited. I feel the warmth of the wood and the warmth of the hotel that heals the tiredness of the traveler. All 9 rooms. A soft, pure Japanese style space that feels Taisho romance. Tatami mats are laid in the hall, including the rooms and the lobby. The dishes that highlight the individuality of the talented young board members are obsessed with the direction and methods that make them attractive and offer surprises together.
