Turnstone Beach House is an outstanding house ,specifically designed by coastal architect Paul Witzig for this site , to provide hideaways on the wonderful west coast of King Island. Turnstone combines privacy with stunning views and all that just 15 minutes from the Airport and 20 minutes to Currie . The house offers sweeping views of the mesmerising Southern Ocean sunsets and storms ; and of the surf rolling into the bay at Little Porky Beach. Large double glazed windows all round naturally frame the surrounding coastal landscape up and down the coast. It is a memorable experience to view the rolling surf, a sunset, or even have a comfortable and cosy front row seat to watch the " sound and light" of one of the big electrical storms that occasionally rolls in .
We were a group of 6 and had the most amazing stay at Turnstone. Fabulous location, right on the beach. We did not want to leave the beautiful location even though there were so many other locations to visit on King Island. Great advice from David for activities and Bianca welcomed us and even gave us a late check out which was wonderful as sharp airline had changed our flight to 530 pm. I would recommend Turnstone unreservedly as a fabulous King Island getaway.

Ian and Lucinda are wonderful hosts who go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Stunning views over the harbour. Close to the calcified forest and penguin colony. Their tours are also informative and amazing if you like 4WD. They can take you many places inaccessible to most.

Luxury Holiday UnitsSpacious luxurious units with modern design and quality features and fittings to enhance your comfort and relaxation. Each unit is separated by an enclosed carport with individual barbecue facilities for your privacy.Bed & BreakfastRomantically comfortable private room providing ensuite, cosy wood fire, private access and deck. Enjoy a continental breakfast overlooking Bass Strait with your hosts or in the privacy of your own room.
We stayed at Portside Links for 3 nights. ... ... ... and thoroughly enjoyed it - spacious, well appointed and with beautiful vistas. While you're there be sure to take some staples with you. There is a small supermarket and a cafe in Grassy but we found it better to stock up in Curry!! There is a cafe/gallery on the property also but it is only open at specific times. During you're stay here a visit to the penguin colony is a must do and, if you get your timing right, be sure to book in for the platypus viewing tour which leaves from Grassy. Portside Links is a great stepping off point for all the south/south eastern attractions of King Island. Set on a large property, this is a great place to stay where you're "away from it all." I have no hesitation highly recommending this accommodation.

We stayed four nights in this self catering chalet style unit which is located separately from the main hotel. There are two of these units which back onto each other and are of the same design but sleep different numbers of people. Our unit had a loft area that contained a queen sized bed (reasonably comfortable) and two single beds. A curtain, if needed, separated the two sleeping areas. There was a small bedside table and reading lamp on either side of the queen bed and also next to one of the single beds. The only other furniture was a chest and a chest of drawers. There was a ceiling fan. Downstairs was a large combined lounge and dining room and a full sized kitchen. The lounge room was furnished with a 2 seater lounge and 2 single lounge chairs, a coffee table and a flat screen TV on a stand. In a corner near the stairs was a round dining table with four chairs. This area had an air conditioner. The kitchen opened onto the lounge room, being separated by a bench which had two high stools. The kitchen was equipped with a full stove with cook top, full sized fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and a reasonable amount of pots, pans, crockery and cutlery and some starter cooking materials. The bathroom was fairly large with a walk-in shower and a washing machine. The units are only a 3 minute drive or a 10-15 minute walk to the Main Street in Currie. Lady that we spoke to on the phone to book the accommodation was very helpful but did not meet anyone whilst there. The reception was unattended when we arrived but there was a notice saying how to get to the units and the key was in the door. We left the key in the door when we left. It would appear from discussions we had with the locals that most people leave their houses unlocked. The unit was very clean and tidy. There was a small balcony out the front but it was too windy when we were there to sit there comfortably. There was plenty of free parking. No WI-FI here and actually very little on King Island at all. Non-Telstra phone services also non-existent. This accommodation was very comfortable and very quiet as it was away from the main complex. However perhaps the best aspect was the uninterrupted view of the rugged western coastline, which is directly exposed to the wild Great Southern Ocean, and the Currie Lighthouse. Would definitely stay here again.

Our tour group enjoyed lunch at this hotel restaurant, before we left for the airport. Choice was Fish and Chips or Chicken Salad. Both looked good; the chicken salad was most flavoursome with plenty of lettuce, some avocado and mango dressing. Chicken was grilled and warm, seasoned with herbs. Part of the restaurant was under an glassed in Pagoda at the extension of the dining room.

We .. 3 couples..recently spent 5 nights here on King Island. The home is beautifully set up with the most amazing views of the ocean from all bedrooms and living areas. The decor is tasteful, the beds , pillows and linen are top quality so much so that my wife pulled the pillows apart to get the make of them so we could order for home. Sam was very professional in our dealings with him and his provisioning prior to our arrival was very generous and thoughtful. The accommodation is only 15 minutes out of Currie but with the rest of the island, wallabies are in plague proportions and great care needs to be taken when driving to or from the accommodation. In fact, whilst on wallabies, one in particular became somewhat of a nuisance whilst we were there sitting outside our door , visible for us to see, waiting to be fed. Unfortunately, guests have seen fit to feed the wildlife which in my opinion is a big no no. The gas wood heater was very welcome, especially on the day the westerlies arrived with rain . This is a first class property with rates that are high, but when shared amongst 3 couples, it makes for a fabulous place to come and enjoy. I know you will too

What a tragedy. The place has everything going for it. Great location, rustic but comfortable accommodation (getting worse by the day), a restaurant and bar (closed!!!!!). This accommodation suited us and the staff (just overseeing the resort's demise) are helpful. Unfortunately the owners seem to have the idea that a severely cut back set up will survive - unfortunately it will die a long and painful death. Certainly stay there but beware - it is rustic and a bit down at heel with no sign of any change into the future.
