Hotel
I stayed in this hotel for a business trip for about 4 days. The staff was ok, the rooms were small, and the beds were hard. I think the hotel is set up to support business travelers. Pros: The hotel had two restaurants and a 100 yen shopping section. Easy access, with free parking. A restaurant, convenient store, and a laundry mat were located right outside of the hotel. Free wifi Low price. Close to MCAS Iwakuni (10-minute drive). Warm showers with good water pressure. Room service provided new towels even if you chose not to have room service. Cons: AC didn't seem to work that well. Bed and pillow were extremely uncomfortable.

We stayed here in a group. It was just beside the Kintaikyo but unfortunately the latter was under renovation. The initial check-in reception was good as usual. Outside the top floor onsen, one could have good view of the bridge and the castle. The hotel had a szechuan restaurant and we had an mapo toufu dish at breakfast. Pretty good. Overall a good night stay.

Not very impressed. I feel like I got catfished by the pictures on Kayak. The lobby was beautiful. My actual room was basic, simple, and lackluster. The room was also small. The bed is very firm and I noticed a small stain on my sheets. They don’t speak English well nor do they use Google Translate to help communicate with foreigners. They were nice, though. If you have a very early flight and need to check in even earlier, the airport shuttle won’t be of assistance since it runs after 8am. I guess I can’t expect much for 50 bucks a night. Only plus is that it’s downtown and you’re close to restaurants.

It is just 5 minutes from the Iwakuni station and 10 min by car from the airport. The hotel has bigger than the average business hotel room size, not big but comfortable. No space to open a big bag.A comfy bed, has a kettle and wifi. The room amenities are not that many but you can try get tea/coffee and some amenities at the lobby (you can borrow a pijama if needed). There is a spa on the 2nd floor what is good for relaxing and a restaurant on the 9floor. The rooms are clean, but simple and has a good size tv.Rooms are lighted enough. The parking is at the right size of the entrance and you need to ask the reception to let you in.

Our room was very nice and the view from our room was wonderful, especially as we visited during sakura season (early April). Kaiseki ryori (traditional Japanese food) is great. Kintaikyo (famous foot-bridge) is easy walking distance–night view with lights is wonderful. Owner and wife are very friendly and speak English well. I can recommend highly. –Hiroko

This is a great hotel near the JR Sanyo train station. I paid 3500 yen and got a twin bed and hot shower. There was free internet. The price may have been depressed because the YMCA was next door and may have provided competition. Word to the wise, entering from the rear allows you to avoid steep stairs with heavy bags. There is a delightful sushi joint right outside the back door. English communication was difficult during my stay.

I really wish I could rate Hotel Trend higher, but I felt it was just an average hotel. Some positives were the staff. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel did include breakfast, there is a small charge for breakfast, but they had a lot to offer. I was not a fan of all the waste that is used for preparing the breakfasts. Each dish is bite sized and they wrap it in plastic, which accumulates to a lot of waste. The food was good though, and traditional. The rooms and bathrooms were on the smaller side. I recently moved to Iwakuni and had three suitcases leaving little room inside. But the rooms were clean and had all the necessary items. My biggest frustration with the hotel was the Wi-Fi. My room rarely had a strong connection, and I had to get help several times. Overall, Hotel Trend is a basic hotel that is worth it for a few nights but it does have it's limits.

I’ve been to Japan three times now and I can honestly say that Shiratame Ryokan is the best accommodation I’ve experienced. Really warm hospitality, exquisite dining and sake experience and breathtaking location. On this occasion I was travelling with a friend - next time I will bring my family. A truely authentic experience.
